Balmain S/S 2010 Paris

I love all the metallics, the clothes have a subtle shine just enough to be beautiful and eyecatching

I totally LOVE this collection! So glad Paris is begun now!!!

this definitely stands out as one of the most compelling visions for future-chic we've seen so far.

That's what you see in this collection? Future-chic? Chic? Really? I can understand some find it sexy, but chic? Come on now...

As a big fan of Balmain, I can say that I like this collection. It's very sexy and feminine, there aren't pieces I wouldn't wear. Then again, there are no fresh colors, it's more like fall, but I still like it.
Great to see Daria too. ;)

i should have just said future. :flower: although i don't see the material difference between this aesthetic -- which everyone has panned -- and similar offerings in seasons past from dolce and gabbana and michael kors for celine. it's interesting to present us with soemthing that's at once about the future yet wholly within the eighties girl vocabulary (from mad max).

I always loved Balmain but this show is way too much even for me
It's so trashy and tacky! The clothes have this grunge vibe, but they end to look trashy and gross. The embellishments don't even look good and cool anymore.
And the Michael Jackson tribute jacket was a silly move

It's much better than last season's boring collection...
At least this season has a theme... last season was just doing Balmain, again.
It's so cool and hip, and sexy. I love it.
Balmain is back!

Some pieces are okay, but overall I really don't like it. It looks tacky and cheap. A few dresses might look good in music videos, or on a young Hollywood starlet, but not really on the runway. The shirts are BAD.

this collection looks like a desperate and tacky old woman trying to hold on to her long-gone youth

blanche -- golden girls.

maybe it will be look better off the runway, in mix with some more casual and simple pieces...but on the runway most of the pieces look so trashy

Yeah i totally agree it looks kind of trashy and it would look good of the runway if people like mixed and matched

Out of all the collections in all the cities... this one disappointed me the most.

I don't see any great change- it's hard when an old formula works well (and to many this does hit many buttons), to go some where else in these times. A good collection for what it was and carried off so well by some of the models who are well suited to this.

looks like balmain continues to enchant the fashion press with its spring collection, no?

I think the collection looks great! Not a favorite, but I'm liking what I see so far. It's quite strong, has a very military textured look yet unfinished edges and tears hint at a quite rebellious flavor. I'm loving the color scheme and all the textures of sequins, and embellishments is a lot for the eye to catch.

I absolutely love Balmain jackets in general.
and a couple of the dresses are good. but a lot of the stuff is a bit trashy I have to say.:(

plus all that leather in the summertime?? I doubt I would buy it - if I had the money .
:D

i am CRAZY in love with the golden skirt in #7.
the only piece that wowed me.
