From the main collection, I liked the menswear. It felt fresh. The womenswear was a mess…
The brown archive part in the end was good. It shows that his best work remains from his earlier collections.
I think that having to follow the aesthetic of Decarnin was actually great for him as it kept him more focused and forced him to edit.
And the cast is great. Seeing Nadège, Milla or Natalia back on the runway is great. And Carla! Those legs!
The brown dresses on brown women combo always does it for me! I love it!
It all looked stiff and uncomfortable but it works.
I like Olivier. I think what he has managed to do with Balmain quite impressive. In terms of creativity and hype, the Decarnin years will remain unmatched but I’m impressed by how well he managed to maintain the brand. They aren’t selling accessories like crazy. The clothes does the work and the aura of the brand is still intact.
Sexy brands always got it tough. We saw the up and downs with Versace, with Cavalli.
His fashion has always been unapologetic. And I really think that he is part of the success of Balmain. I hate his clothes but I like him and i know a lot of people who feels the same. He is more genuine than Jacquemus for example…
