Balmain S/S 2022 Paris | the Fashion Spot

Balmain S/S 2022 Paris

those wrapping-tearing clothes remind me this Chinese lady who just won the LVMH design award . Zhou Rui i think her name is.
the rest... model cast for the last part is very nice.

It's good as an anniversary but it's too long. I see that he not only focus on his own archives but also Helmut Lang and Christophe Decarnin.

The first 30 looks are good, it's fresh and sexy. Not too over styled like the next section of the collection. Olivier problem is he just doesn't know when to stop, he may has good ideas and knows how to execute it. But he always add to much unnecessary details and make everything so heavy.

The last part is good because that his greatest hits, but I don't know where he can go from here. We already seen him been stuck for the last few years now. I don't think he has anything new to offer for Balmain anymore.

Utterly wild to me in that in the finale he legit just threw some metal mesh on precious and called it a day. How transparent he is.

Olivier Rousteing has always been rather hit and miss for me, but I'm able to admit this collection is a total smash hit. Quintessential Balmain, and sat here head over heels for the vast majority of looks. The devil is in the detailing, and I've lost count of how many looks I've zoomed in on.

All I see is Helmut Lang and Rick Owens mixed with the usual Balmain Tackiness.

And that’s his thing LOL And that’s what makes his brand so charming. He’s not that deep nor is he a trailblazer, and he and his Balmain are an absolute tacky cartoon— but he’s so passionate that even the tackiest effort is rendered with sincerity and charm. I’ll never touch his brand of fashion with a 10 mile pole— however, his brand of effervescence and energy is so consistent since the beginning of his tenure at the brand, it’s admirable.

I enjoyed the show and it's a great collection for Balmain. Olivier showed a bit more restraint than usual. The silhouettes and drape was nice although some of the men's looks were too much.

It does read Rick Owens by way of Balmain in the silhouettes. The collection feels a bit more urban and cool like his early collections and more decarnin in its relaxed approach.

From the main collection, I liked the menswear. It felt fresh. The womenswear was a mess…

The brown archive part in the end was good. It shows that his best work remains from his earlier collections.
I think that having to follow the aesthetic of Decarnin was actually great for him as it kept him more focused and forced him to edit.

And the cast is great. Seeing Nadège, Milla or Natalia back on the runway is great. And Carla! Those legs!
The brown dresses on brown women combo always does it for me! I love it!

It all looked stiff and uncomfortable but it works.

I like Olivier. I think what he has managed to do with Balmain quite impressive. In terms of creativity and hype, the Decarnin years will remain unmatched but I’m impressed by how well he managed to maintain the brand. They aren’t selling accessories like crazy. The clothes does the work and the aura of the brand is still intact.

Sexy brands always got it tough. We saw the up and downs with Versace, with Cavalli.

His fashion has always been unapologetic. And I really think that he is part of the success of Balmain. I hate his clothes but I like him and i know a lot of people who feels the same. He is more genuine than Jacquemus for example…

I think he tries to be modern and fresh...but the problem is that he is so obsessed with 80s, that everything he creates looks heavily dated...I don´t see Rick Owens here, I see "Mad Max".

Some pieces are for really amazing bodies but not surprises even Naomi is not a surprise anymore.

The first part is very Mugler and the last part is usual Decarnin. Like other members point out, there are also doses of Helmut Lang. It is very easy to guess what is on his mood board as usual, which is probably not a good thing though.
