FRIENDS & FAMILY: Carine Roitfeld assembled a crew of familiar faces for her collaboration with Barneys New York. For the "Carine's World"-themed fall women's campaign features, the former editor-in-chief of French Vogue recruited her daughter Julia Restoin-Roitfeld in Givenchy, son Vladimir Restoin-Roitfeld in his own clothes, Marie Amelie Sauve in Balenciaga, Victoire de Castellane in Azzedine Alaïa, Dasha Zhukova in Proenza Schouler, and Naomi Campbell in Fendi. In addition, Roitfeld got many other models-of-the-moment in clothes of the season to pose for Mario Sorrenti, who shot the campaign. The pièce de resistance, however, may just be the photo of Roitfeld herself in an all-black Rick Owens ensemble, which also serves as the cover of the Barneys' women's designer book, which features all the images. In addition, they will appear in Barneys' fall windows, inside the stores, as well as on the retailer's Web site. The ads will launch in September fashion and lifestyle books. - wwd
*barneys.comFor this campaign, Ms. Roitfeld was invited to serve as a special guest editor and stylist working alongside renowned photographer Mario Sorrenti and Barneys New York Creative Director Dennis Freedman.
Mario Sorrenti, who shot the campaign in both Paris and New York, also produced an exclusive short film featuring Ms. Roitfeld that captures the essence of the campaign. Having worked with the iconic editor for over a decade at French Vogue, Sorrenti has created a personal view of her world, style and passion in a way that only he can.
“Carine’s World” will be featured in the Madison Avenue windows at Barneys New York this fall. Leading up to their unveiling (and the premiere of the campaign video), be sure to check back here for a new campaign image each day.
