I've just recently gotten into Bat for Lashes.. I'm very intrigued by Natasha's vision and the dark melodies with such an eclectic use of instruments, but for some reason the music makes me a little depressed! Or in a very contemplative mood.. anyone else feel this way? Reminds me of being younger and hearing those darker 80s songs by groups like the Cure or Cocteau Twins.

To me it's this most recent album that is a bit down (If I am honest, didn't like the first album that much).

I think she went through a lot of hard stuff over the past couple of years and it definitely shows in the record. Still I'm going through weird times myself which may be why I am so drawn in

Thanks for responding! That would make sense. And I do love those two dearly also, just wondering if anyone else got that kind of vibe, cause I've seen lots of posts that say particular songs make them "happy"..but that's just not a word I'd use, though I do feel good while listening.

she's nominated for a mercury and a vma for breakthrough artist....hope she wins.

i don't get the mercury prize curse though. i mean pj,portishead,antony & the johnson's and franz all won and none have gone anywhere and are producing pretty strong work.

Did anyone see her on Jimmy Fallon last night? She was wearing this super fabulous fringed jacket/top that I just loooooooooove. Plus, her makeup was super awesome. I didn't get a good look at it because they didn't show her face in close-up for very long, but it looked like the eye makeup was kind of this feather effect. I wantttttttttted it.

Ha, that's so true, and horrible. Glad to hear they played Sleep Alone. Pearl's Dream is actually my favorite track on the album.
