the word has it that the japanese brand ( Bathing Ape) is becoming bigger and bigger in the streets .. is it true ??? cause im trying to pick up some few tees from them... i know beckham, justin and some celebs already wear them... let me know if they're any good  ??

i dont know the quality, but i've seen alot of Japanese people wearing this brand. i didnt know that other celebs wore their t-shirts. from what i know, they have alot of shirts with gorillas on them like this one. they've also done some projects like designing bottles for Pepsi .

(this picture i got from looking up on google image search)

seems like a random brand to me. What's the appeal?

I'm wondering the same thing.

So many stupid label names coming out right now... I'll be rushing right out to get a Bathing Ape t-shirt and some Acne jeans.

BAPE was huge in Japan about a year ago, however the whole hype has started to die off a little bit now.

acne jeans...

Their appeal is that they do limited editions, which I am a big fan of myself. I'm not too impressed with their clothes, however. Nike has a deal with them doing lmt.edt. lines of Dunks and Pharell, the rapper, had plans to do a line of Nikes/tee/ets. with them.

 Started to die off? Nobody cool is wearing that over there anymore. Just so you know: Everything that's starting to get big in the Western world hit it's peak at least three years ago in Japan. B)

not really a fan of bape, its mostly hype.
Its not really that popular in tokyo anymore, but its starting to get popular in the us and i see people wearing it everywhere in hk.
There are so many better and more imaginitive brands than bape.

Theres so many damn names for this same brand its like if Old dirty bastard was still alive ha ha..

Anyway Pharell has been rawking this brand for a while now and i'm slowly starting to see it pop up here in California.. I know its been around Japan for a good 10 years now but its really getting hot everywhere... with a flagship store already open in London and another store coming in NY... Its only a matter of time for an LA store...

They have crazy marketing schemes like hard to find stores, and once you find them they have nothing in stock ever ha ha...

WHO LIKES BAPE??

Thanks Faust I was wondering where my thread went ha ha...

So yeah to answer the question...

Bape has been around for a good 10 years and I have to say I dont see the brand dying at all...nor has it reached that OVERSATURATION as you may see with other brands..

BAPE is all about being very exclusive and very limited edition.. The items are very simple but VERY VERY cool... gotta admit however its HIGH ENG STREET FASHION so its kinda pricey, I saw t-shirts going for 100+ dollars and people were pushing and shoving to buy em... as crazy as it may sound...

:woot:

I don't think Bape is THAT cool...they make nice sneakers and army jackets, but for the most part the clothing is overpriced and poor quality. A Bape Busy Works tee I bought developed a hole in it after less than half a year of wear...so I cut up the hem and sleeves and distressed it a la Number (N)ine's Anti-Bush tees. Now THAT'S cool :innocent: B)

BTW, I think Bape is definitely on its way to oversaturation in North America...Complex magazine even listed it as the #1 brand in the world  it's only a matter of time, oversaturation seems to be Nigo's goal, like he wants to make a crapload of money then exit.
