What do we think of berets? Stylish or costume-y?

I think that Diane Kruger wears them well, but I can't think of anyone else whose beret look I liked all that much. I've got a black one I'm a little wary of sporting in public...

Oooooh! Personally I adore berets! I was a little wary at first of wearing them out but at the moment I couldn't really care what people think! I have a sparkly black one, a grey one with pearls and sequins on and a plain black vintage one. I think they're very versitile, you can wear them in tribute to the French or at the back of the head. Plus they keep my head nice and warm!

i love berets if worn the right way. some people just pull it off really nicely, others just look silly in them.

I do think that whether or not the style works has a lot to do with the confidence you wear it with. I should just let go and wear it because I want to. I shall add this to my list of New Year's resolutions...

I love berets! I've been wearing them forever. My favorites are slightly oversized cashmere ones that don't have the little piece sticking out on top. Right now I have a black cashmere one and a black cashmere beret with sequins that I wear the most. I get loads of compliments on the sequined one. I'd like a colored one (again, used to have a great purple one), but haven't seen anything that is the right quality and color yet.
