BUT not in that order.....i cant choose
its soo hard to decide! :woot:

Hmm.. "those that struck a chord with you"... well those who did that, for me were (in order:(

1. Yohji Yamamoto - Gutsy chic; Classic Yohji with a more aggresive stance and a strong study on proportion.

2. Lanvin by Alber Elbaz - Alber has delivered one of, if not, the best collection of the Fall 2004 season. I mean what else can you ask from a collection like this? Its has amazing quality, fabrics and craft. What else is, it is elegant and sexy, without being vulgar. Lastly, it is innovative while being classic.

3. Prada - She took a very rich, embellished Oriental look and made only the way Prada could.

4. Y's Yohji Yamamoto - A bit watered down from the main line (and he used some typical tricks we'd come to expect), but, nonetheless, brilliant.

5. John Galliano - Like his Spring '02 collection, John, once again, he showed how far he can take inspirations with him. His ideas exploded down on the catwalk in a wildly crazy mix of patterns, colours, cultures and icons leaving his audience reeling from the bombardment of creativity.

6. Dries Van Nouten - Read chick's post. I so agree.

Milano fashion week TOP 5

*Burberry
*Bottega Venetta
*Marni
*Alberta Ferretti
*MiuMiu

also loved bits and pieces from *Sanders *Moschino and *Krizia

* i was pleasantly shocked by the change in direction/styling at Cavalli and Just Cavalli lines.. Dolce & Gabanna also had a very decent collection.. better quality and 'modern' styling, came as a huge surprise from both brands
*milano dissapointment... Ozbec for Pollini, that was bad.. :ninja:
*even though i'm a Paris 'maniac' this season i admit that Milano & London collections were much more pleasant and creative.
Milano bites back? About time as well :ninja:

The fashion world is going through a change so picking favorites this time was a little harder because it took looking at everything not through the lens of the new or the remarkable, but with the eye of what could sell and what's different in the world of desperately commerical clothes.

1. Balenciaga infused streetwear with a unique sense of history and nonchalance that has been missing in the past couple of seasons. Ghesquiere took a cue from the first few collections of Gucci: sexy, expressive, and trademark. From the coats to the pant to the teetering boot, everything bore the unmistakable mark of Ghesquiere's Balenciaga yet looked feasible but not too cool.

2. Dior Homme because we all know that women wear this stuff, too. Slimane relaxed his aesthetic just a little to accomodate the rest of us who have had affections toward his work but thought they were a little too exclusive for those of us who don't dine on amphetamines.

3. Lanvin because he finally won me over with his simple classic French elegance. The suits could be worn to tea with the queen and the dress (attached) could be worn on the street over a pair of distressed jeans-of-the-moment and Manolos. For the first time I felt that Lanvin was elegance. You know exactly what you are getting there and that's valuable and hard to do while staying relevant.

4. Gucci. No can do it like Tom and he redid his classics with that special something we all love Tom Ford for. I loved the collection not only because it took a bite out of all of those people getting ready to sell eight year old dresses for twice retail, but it also reminded us of what a loss he will be to fashion without being pretentious about it.

5. I must do honorable mentions because this season it was hard to come up with favorites: Libertine (!!), Rochas, Bill Blass, Tuleh, Luca Luca, Zac Posen, Givenchy, and (almost forgot!) Valentino.

People will give me sh*t for this but oh well...

Christian Dior- Despite the oversized coats, clunky shoes, and neon colors I think the collection was fantastic. It was subtle, pretty, and went completely against a western sense of aesthetics in favor for a more east asian one. Keep in mind that I am envisioning the clothes shrunken down considerably. Let's hope John doesn't make me a fool when the garments hit the stores.

Louis Vuitton- Ususally I would have avoided Louis Vuitton just because I have been so turned of lately with the ads and the saturation of LV bags. But the collection was amazing! marc jacobs is just wonderful.

Burberry- This collection stuck out to me. I liked it much better then the previous collection. It felt very unique to me. Bailey was doing his own thing. The collection had a style that I felt was very strong and very tasteful. Bailey's use of color, line, and volume is skillful and graceful.

Dries Van Noten- This was perhaps my favorite show. I think it was just amazing. one of the best for sure.

Viktor and Rolf- I wasn;t expecting much from these two mainly because I was never a big fan before. This last collection was amazing! I watched parts of the show on video and was not happy about the deer horns or the music but I didn't care! The clothes were so well constructed and beautiful.

good (and even fantastic) but don't quite make the top 5 (for me of course)

YSl Rive Gauche
Alexander Mcqueen
Gucci
Prada

the not so good at all

As Four
Imation of Christ
Valentino
Lagerfield Gallery
