Hi!

I know that this probably isn't the right place to post this question, but I don't think there is a section for this sort of thin, so I'll just post it here and hope you guys forgive me. :flower:

My question is - which designer or design house has the biggest turnover? It would be nice if someone for example had a list of the top 10 campanies. I think I've heard that Louis Vuitton is the biggest .. (I'm not looking for the biggest group, but the brand that sells the most goods)

Ps; Moderators; Please move this post to an appropriate section if there is one. ;)

Thanks for your help!

Hm, I actually ment a brand, like Chanel, Dior, Prada, Cavalli, Calvin Klein, Gucci, etc. I was just wondering who had the highest sales. :)

Sorry if I express myself poorly, but I mean luxury brand. :)

What are you talking about in turn over? Which has the most employees that are hired and quit in a period of time? A brand that has had the most designers over the course of its life? If you are talking about who sells the most clothing you'd be looking at sell throughs and not turnover.

I think they mean turnover as in profits, in which case I beleive Dior would be number one.

that's funny. when i pass louis vuitton, i see crazy people queueing outside the shop, which doesn't really happen in Dior. but Dior is the most profitable brand so far.
Is it just because it owns 46% of LVMH?

By turnover I mean "the total amount of business done in a given time" (dictionary.com) .. :) Who has the highest sales?

Giorgio Armani and Dolce & Gabbana are the two that spring to mind when I think of the Billionaire Club....that being those "smaller" corporations that have over $1 billion in annual sales. However, something like The Gucci Group or LVMH might beat that...however, they have many brands under that umbrella compared to a flagship label and difussion line(s).

I would think Chanel and Dior are up there in the top 3... what with handbags, couture, rtw, sport lines and cosmetics... Although Dior seems to have really cut down on the mass-market gimmicky stuff in the past couple of years

Neither are a $1 billion business. Chanel is a privately held company so they don't have to release any of their data and even then who knows how accurate it is.

who owns Chanel? i heard it is some German guy....i too wonder who has the highest turnover

i think it would pretty much impossible to guess. I would imagine Ralph Lauren, with all his franchises would beat D&G and Dior but not if you only mean the luxury sector.

It's privately held by the Wertheimer family, which was one of the orginal financers of Mdmse. Chanel.

Also, can we stop using "turn over"? This is not the correct word to be used in this case.
