Black + Blue F/W 08.09

There are many outfits in this thread that I can't describe because I don't have the correct terminiology, and I'm not allowed to repost images, and there are so many pictures that it's too hard to describe the placement of the pictures. I'm supposed to know ALL about the designers instead of just knowing how it looks.

The worst one of these was an outfit that looked like someone was wearing red and yellow deflated foil baloons on their dress--one was near their right hip, and the other was near the left side of the model's chin. It looked ridiculous, but unfortunately, I don't know how to describe it in the right way so people will know what I'm talking about.

Most of the outfits I'm seeing in this thread have been very pleasant. Unfortunately, I don't have good enough terminology to add anything significant because of the rules of this forum.

Don't let that stop you! :p

I believe you're talking about the second Benjamin Cho look in post #10?

In these trend threads the name of the designer is always posted right above the pics for easy reference and you can always refer to the post number, or quote the post and delete the photos within the quotes (readers can then click on "view post" to see the original post you are responding to)

i love black and blue together (especially navy for the contrast of the dark colors)

i've been doing it a it this far and i've really loved the results for the most part..

it can be nice to mix in navy tights with a blk skirt...

I think that in order for the look to really stand out, it has to seem extremely intentional. The blue has to be bold enough to not look like "oops, I thought this was black, but it's actually navy" (like with socks!). Also, black & blue need to be the only colors in the outfit, ideally. I've seen it work with the introduction of grey into the palette, though, as well.

 i definitely agree, that the 'oops' factor should never be a possibility. i really like it when done with a more vibrant palette or fabric. great spotting, everyone!

a little off topic, but if those angel schlesser make a model look long bodied :ninja:

I was reading Shirleebee's post which stated the blue has to be bold enough to not look like it was black. Ok, then...do you guys ever wear a black top with dark wash jeans?

Great eye, Mettchen! thanks for the thread :flower: This is one of my favorite color combos.

re: the 'oops factor', I am actually a big fan of dark navys with black ^_^ I'd much rather that than a pale blue.

I do, often, actually. As long as there is a discernable difference in texture, weight, SOMETHING, it looks really nice. :flower:

^i'm absolutely in love with the looks at Richard Nicoll and Amanda Wakely.. thanks for posting :flower:

great!

shall i tell you what i'm wearing atm?
black tights, black shirt und over it a blue dress.
haha :D
perfect colour combo this days i guess :D

Wow, I adore all of these outfits, I think:woot:And it makes me wanna put on some clothes in a black and blue combination at once....

I really like this. People who say dark blue hues and black cannot go together are mistaken.
