Blake Lively (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

While I can appreciate Blake being named one of the most stylish and being regarded as an up and coming fashion icon (because she's obviously listening to Anna and upgrading her look), her style is so generic, cookie-cutter glamorous Hollywood that I don't feel she deserves the acclaim. I like it, but any young starlet in Hollywood could pull that look off. E! seems to love everything she does though, so it doesn't surprise me that they would be drooling over her look.

I won't dispute that Leighton is hit-or-miss (and needs more refinement to her clothing choices), but her style is unique and very definitely hers, so I don't think she deserved the E! jab.

I love both girls - Blake and Leighton - but when it comes to fashion I also prefer Blake's style. Both, on and off screen. At the beginning of the GG series I always found Leighton to be more fashionable but recently Blake's style has improved a lot and she definitely dresses better than Leighton now. But I honestly would never call Leighton a fashion victim.

I like both ladies too, and I definitely think Blake style is a bit more my taste, but as for being groomed an up and coming fashion icon? I don't think so. my ideas for a fashion icon is someone's who's style is truly unique. that when you see the look, it is completely their own.

I like Blake's style, but most of the time she's just put together like a catalog. wearing the pieces exactly as they are shown. this is not the making a fashion icon IMO.

but I still like what she wears, if that makes any sense.

I see Kate Moss, Audrey and Grace as icons...I think it takes more than a season or two in the public eye to get that label...Maybe down the road... ;)

i agree... people keep abusing the word ICON... in terms of style, modelling even acting...you cannot be in your 20s and be an icon, 20s are for experiments and mistakes...

She seems to be 'my fair lady' of style. Everybody who participated in creating 'from F21 to Chanel' Blake now praises her so much, kind of praising themselves for the transformation. I tend to dislike har style just because it's labeled as 'iconic' which is forced and unnessecary. The word 'icon' is often synonymous to 'inspiration'. Blake inspires... to wear revealing clothes. I like her, I really do. I've got nothing against her, I'm against those who call her the fashion icon :)

^ I think maybe we need a new term- fashion inspiration, standout or leader or something like that...;)

maybe she is fashion icon in the making or for someone, but i find her outfuts really attractive and feminine

This is a good idea, ha ha! :0)

It would certainly help to prevent people getting ideas above their (not-yet-iconic!) station.

Agreed.

I can't stand hearing her called fashion icon.
It's just I still feel robbed after I saw her casted as Serena when in book S. was defined as divine flawless effortless beauty.

I like her personal/street style more than her red carpet picks. I feel her red carpet event wardrobe are straight off the runway and lack that extra personal touch that makes one a fashion icon...which is a label much like the "it" girl, imho, put on anyone that the media machine deems popular and worthy at the moment. The thing I have gleaned from her interviews is that she genuinely loves fashion and is eagerly learning, and the best in the business seem to adore her and is teaching her. Its not her fault she's labeled an icon, but I think in time she will have earned it.

I remember seeing her on a magazine cover I think of a special edition of Vogue's best dressed list ? Anna Wintour sure seems to like her

whoa. she looks amazing! without all that body exposure and still super sexy in the same time. have a good year, Blake :)

I don't think even Blake can pull off those pants, they're not a very good length on her
