Blumarine S/S 2023 Milan

what .. is this? blumarine does balenciaga and diesel? since when was blumarine anything like this.

i liked his first couple of collections but this is not good

Now that he’s gone trough his entire stack of Seventeens and Teen Vogues from 20 years ago and has to *gasp* start designing, we’re in deep trouble.

It’s all so heavy, over-accessorized and self-conscious. It’s sad to watch.

The fade on some of the denim looks makes me think that they’re rotting and probably smell awful.

Bluemarine rarely looked very expensive so I’ll give him that.

interesting denim mermaids in the beginning and most of the long dresses have good designs but those fabrics make everything look cheap imo

The menswear is... something.

Literally thought that you posted in the incorrect thread and it's my third time looking at this collection. LOL

Still gathering my thoughts on the actual clothing.

Apparently according to Vogue, this collection was inspired by "The Little Mermaid", but we're the poor unfortunate souls here.

Here's the "menswear looks" I mentioned:

I watched the live show and I didn't realize @vogue28 accidentally skipped a couple of looks (can't blame him though, they're disgusting).

Loooo-ved it! Not the denim part... But yes to the fantasy extra Long hair, the assymetric lunes, the shoes, the ruffly situation, those fringy dresses w the crosses, i said yes right away. It does look like a teen vogue cover from the 2000s...but to be honest i would wear most of it... Not the denim (which is mostly 50% of the collection )

He is such a literal, one note, one dimensional designer. It's always look like a poor man version of 2000s Galliano.
He is already run out of ideas, and designed himself into a corner.
He better evolve or he will get left behind quick.

The moment the kids move on from the Y2K trend. He's over.

This is not the blumarine, which has a clientele that is usually easy on the eyes, pretty, wearable and wholesome Italian ladylike. But this is more tacky than Cavalli?

Pretty sure Anna Molinari wouldn`t interpret mermaid like that, what a shame.

I can appreciate the willow-y expression of it all, down to the hair extensions, next to all the oversize-everything collections, this seems like a real anti-thesis! The fact he really went for a silhouette in every imaginable way possible and cutting all other options shows conviction, even if not all of it worked. The bias-cut, draped pieces and knits are the most solid pieces here, I think the denim would be better if he put the waistlines higher, less Y2K and more Nicolas Ghesquière's infamous Balenciaga-pants.

This is so boring/bad/cheesy/tacky. It wishes it is bad taste, bad its just plain ol’ BAD.
Lol

Am I the only one who loves it? It's giving me 2000s realness, and I'm here for it.

No, I think it's really, really nicely done.

I'm not into the Y2K vibe itself, but I think the way it is used to push Blumarine into something interesting is super keen.

Blumarine is gross and gaudy, there's no way to avoid it. Nicola has embraced this fact and works within those parameters to create some fairly sophisticated clothes.

He's super talented.

He is cute and I really think he has talent. I just think the Blumarine revival of the early 00’s, while fun can also be annoying. I loved those times and obviously, it wasn’t like that on the runway…the early 00’s were tackier in the streets and on TV than on the runway actually.
Those are just things I wouldn’t want to relive again.

I actually think that Nicola would be greater at Cavalli. In a few season, he has managed to infuse a new vision for Blumarine and it’s good. I feel like Cavalli could allow him to do more or even Ungaro.

His dressmaking is not bad. He needs a house that will exploit that potential.

Yes, Brognano at Cavalli. Make Cavalli great again!

Low rise jeans always looked bad and they still do now. The jeans take me back to 2000-2003, when girls in LA just wore Frankie B Brazilian low rise jeans.
They will look worse in this BBL era…
