I love this thread... so inspiring and beautiful! Anyways, I found pictures of these two bookshelves and I think they look really cool.

Love love love bookshelve design. Imo it's most appealing when it's functional though, it would be such waste to stock your books away somewhere you can't be bothered reaching them. The sky high closet thing looks great but I'm not sure if I would keep so many books only for display.

Tumblr alone is not enough for a source, could you provide with the account where you got them, please? Those are very interesting! The hidden library could also be translated into a door, that would be taking advantage of small spaces.

Wow, I am so happy this thread exists I've been obsessing over bookcases lately and desperately wanting one in my life (room).

Do you guys have any inspiration images of glass bookcases? Do people actually use glass covered shelves to hold books? My dad keeps saying that's the only kind of bookcase I should consider for my room since it'll help prevent the books from collecting dust...

I love the aesthetic of seeing the books and how tactile it is, knowing that I can just reach out and touch them. But then I kind of also like the idea of them preserved behind glass, like works of art. And it might be beautiful when you can kind of see the book spines through the panes but not really, but it's alluring so you come close to get a better look.

What do you guys think?

The first picture from post #305 worries me a bit only because I imagine that one would have to step on the books to get to further books.

Here is a glass bookcase that I found for you Style Star. I think they can look lovely, if done right. I like this one because it doesn't just have books in it but other little kick-nacks and such. Also changing the way the books are stacked might help too.

Amazing, especially the ones in Dublin, Tokyo, Berlin (Humboldt Universität), Pennsylvania (Lehigh), Baltimore and San Diego. Surprised at the amount of stunning US college libraries, us Europeans are quite snobbish when it comes to American culture & history, we always forget/ignore the fact that you have seriously amazing architecture, too
