Hi all. I am new to this board and have been reading what everyone is interested in.

I typically had been looking at Prada, LV, Fendi, etc., but lately was getting a bit bored (and running out of $$) and thought I'd check out some new "handbag designers".

I stumbled across this neat looking bag designed by a former fashion photog named Monica Botkier. Has anyone got this bag? Opinions?

www.botkier.com is the website.

I like the metallic ones. It's a tiny bit like MJ, or so I think. *shrug*

Hi Luna.

Ya know what these bags remind me of now that I've been searching my memory, is Tod's and a bit Balenciaga. Only because of the hardware, the diagonal zippers and the leather "strings".

I never did buy the Tod's bag it reminds me of, because when I saw that particular bag it made me laugh as I thought of a football with all the stitching and the zippers. I think this one looks nicer (but I do love my Balenciaga motorcycle bag more).

Love to hear other suggestions on new bags the panel is finding outside of the traditional houses too!

 When I "hit it big" you can look me up for some outside traditional stuff.

i loove the balenciaga motorcycle bags..but for something more in my price range i have been eyeing the botkier trigger bags for a while now. opinions?

i've got both, without noticing how similar they were!! i only see it now that tfsers have pointed it out.. heheh.
well i love them both.. to me they're not versions of the same thing - they're different bags for someone with a certain taste and style.. edgy, hip, non-logo luxe..

the botkier is great IMO, i love mine.. it's got nice leather, and is v practical cos of all its compartments..

BUT at 1/2 the price of the balenciaga moto... if you would only get one of either botkier or moto, i would hold out for the moto... it's much more beautiful leather, much more classic, much more special in so many ways.. you'll love it much more and for much longer

I agree with hellholly, I have both a Balenciaga Classique and Botkier Lux Trigger and they are both fantastic bags.

I use the Lux Trigger for work and take my Classique on the weekends.

The Lux Trigger fits so many things as it has 3 main compartments and the leather is beautiful. There are so many copies of the Balenciaga and only one Lux Trigger copy I have seen (in Australia) so I get a lot of compliments on it.

I also love the Botkier Clyde in Almond but they are completely sold out …

Seems to me like Botkier is becoming quite the bag lately. I've seen it on J Simpson and many other celebs. I really actually like the Botkier bags and they seem a bit more reasonably priced than many of the bags out there now...

How is the quality of thier bags?

quality is great! mine is metallic leather, but its still very soft and thick leather.. great quality leather.
and all the seams and compartments are v well stitched and finished.. the o-rings have no gaps.. it's a quality bag! and you get the feeling it's a tough little creature, it'll withstand use..

and its well thought out.. all the little and main compartments, a long key chain, metal feet..

I have liked the Botkiers for awhile. I don't like how popular they are getting , but I just wouldn't get the Trigger. Too many people have it and too many knockoffs. Some of the other styles are cute, and the quality is good - especially for the price.

i just received a botker trigger luxe nude mix that i bought on ebay. i'm wondering how to tell if it is authentic or not? (obviously, i should have thought of this before i bought the bag
thanks for any help!

i have a medium trigger luxe in black and i love it! the leather is buttery soft... absolutely supple and beautiful and yummy. all of the compartments are very handy, the size is great, comfortable to carry, etc.

for the price, you can't beat it. i rarely see bags done in leather this nice at this price point.

eeek i just saw a trigger on ebay in a new color "mahogany" and i am coveting! has anyone heard about new leathers for fall? i love the coppery zippers! or is it a fake? somebody.. help

i never thought i'd be the kind of person to buy multiples of one style of bag.. but i am tempted.

I'm pretty sure the mahogany is real. The Botkier website hasn't been updated for fall but a few of the new colours are on the below sites:

I really like the pewter clyde, metallic fatique, mahogany and cognac luxe trigger! I have a med black luxe trigger also and I'm really tempted to get another. Even my Mum has fallen in love with it and wants one!! :D

I have a medium luxe trigger in a green/tan metallic color called "mermaid" (from spring) that I really love. It holds tons of stuff, which is great for me.

I just ordered the Clyde Acid Green..after checking out my friend's Clyde Nude. I love the leather...Can't wait for it to arrive..

thanks for the links, mousie! ii'm eyeing up the holster in cognac... so pretty. i don't even know if i like the holster or not... maybe it's a little wide for an everyday bag? are the outside pockets stupid? i don't know how i feel about it yet, lol. the clyde is gorgeous in the fall colors, but unfortunately i'm not a fan of hand-carry bags.

youngprof, the mermaid is gorgeous. i was deciding between that, the black and the almond when i bought mine.

i think i have a botkier problem

The clyde is the only bag I'd be interested in.. but you can't put it on your shoulder... even though it comes with a detachable strap.. it woulda been so much better if the handles were made a bit longer

i have the botkier bag... the trigger luxe bag...

it is actually pretty similar to the motorcycle bag like how everyone else suggested.

and i'm using this until i can hugely splurge on a balenciaga.
