OLAF’S TURN: The latest in Bottega Veneta’s growing list of diverse campaign photographers is Erwin Olaf, who shot the fashion house’s fall-winter 2012-13 campaign in Amsterdam in March. Olaf, whose career spans a range of journalistic and commercial stints, offers “a point of view that is at once formal and psychological, so surface and meaning have a complex relationship,” said creative director Tomas Maier.

The campaign breaks in the August issues of American, French, Italian and British Vogue, as well as W, Harper’s Bazaar and Vanity Fair. It plays with the collection’s generally dark color scheme, which includes black, navy, maroon and neutral gray, lightened up with touches of plum, teal and burnt orange. In one of Olaf’s images, model Aymeline Valade is shown standing in an empty room, wearing a short-sleeve dress with an abstract floral design and long black leather gloves.

The campaign marks the continuation of Bottega Veneta’s ongoing project, “The Art of Collaboration,” in which the brand selects a new artist to work with for each season’s advertisements. The most recent collaborators were Jack Pierson and Mona Kuhn.

she looks evil-ish a lil creepy tbh. me.no like it :l
bleach eyebrow dont look good on her.

It's awfully bad, not even suitable for a lookbook

aymeline is a lovely model but this is just sooo boring.. very boring concept... i'd totally flip through it while reading a magazine

Great for Aymeline, she looks amazing, but this is empty...

I actually like it. That dress is hideous but it looks quite good against that grey backdrop. I think it's unexpected, nicely styled and I find Aymeline to look absolutely stunning here. Can't wait to see more.

WTF is this? They couldn't have chosen a more disconnecting setting for this collection- a wooden floor with grey walls. Am I missing something here? This doesn't work.

This looks very Erwin Olaf indeed. Great to see that he shot this, but I hope that the rest of the shots are a bit more out going.

Nothing about that image works for me. From the styling to the her pose, to her facial expression, to the boring photography, to the weak composition. I think the idea of bright/colorful dress against a gray background is a nice idea (albeit, not very original) but the execution is horrendous.

This does ineed look like a lookbook. Sadly, Bottega campaigns have been going downhill in the past few seasons.

I do like it. It's just something about it that I like it.
And glad for Valade.

great news. I'm so happy that Aymeline is becoming bigger and bigger. Can't wait for more.

I think the preview shot wasn't the best choice but it does look promising.

It was intense her expression, so i want to see more.

well, I'm happy for Aymeline, but omg, these look so dull, something I will automatically ignore when reading a magazine. I'm sorry... :ninja:
