Boudicca F/W 06.07 NYC

Agree with Scott and Tricotine - I have been following Boudicca avidly for a few years now (well...their migration to NYFW certainly miffed me!) Perhaps, their showing in NY has influenced their design because it has become more wearable and less alienating of late. That for me is not a bad thing because despite this they haven't lost their identity. I use the term 'galatic Victoriana' a lot when talking about Boudicca because their clothes have this outworldly quality about them but with historical references. This collection still has that feel for me except it's a lot slicker and v. clean cut.

Hum ... When I first saw it .. I was mostly intrigued by the texture .. I wanna touch everything (and No, Im not on acid).

Hum .. kinda like

AN ODD Collection! I only liked 1 jacket everything else is yuck! Some pieces made the models look like a busser...haha i gotta show my friend who waits on tables what she can be wearing next season!

I love this collection. To me, it's much better than their last collection, which looked quite weird and random, while much less interesting than their older collections in London. This one has so many wearable but still distinctive-looking pieces, structured, polished, sharp. Maybe not so artistic and inventive as their old works in London, but still definitely a stand-out among all the mess and boredom of NY fashion week.

I really love it, I can see how it might be more 'wearable' i.e commercial than it's other collections, but it's still 100% boudicca in my eyes. I'm an avid fan of Broach and Kirkby though, so perhaps a bit biased.

I agree perlefine the structure in that dress from the side is equisite...I love it when there's an architectural element to clothing.

Lena I think it is a bit more mature, wearable and perhaps sophisticated than normal, it doesn't look so obviously 'avant garde' as their previous collections.

Ah long live Boudicca

To me,this is Boudicca....this is very close to alot of their earlier aesthetic. Still very sharp and structured which I  ;)
Nearly my exact feelings when I first browsed the collection. :woot: (and they still ring true...)

It's so... Boudicca ;) and it dosn't hurt it's reminiscent of the very collections from which my early love grew...

Yes, it's a bit dark and severe, but I like it. I think this was a really successful collection.

i adore this collection very clean and structural right up my street! also the fact it contains alot of black pieces:heart:

Not a fan at all... i am quite disappointed... ...the colors don't go together..... and it's trying too hard to be cutting edge by bringing in really horrid shapes.....

Exactly Jennifer! And I think if one were to go back and look alot of those early collections(before AmX)you'll find that this is very much in the same vein as those. I think since acquiring the support from the credit card company, their work has increasingly become alot more ornate and embellished on the surface. But this, like those before,it's alot slicker on the surface(not to be confused with being minimalist since their collections are often too dramatic in silhouette with crafty undertones for that)and more attention is being paid to what they do best which is their tailoring. I think the biggest difference though is that maybe this isn't quite so hard-hitting as their archives were.

It's a design duo...partners Zowie Broach and Brian Kirkby, both graduates of middlesex university. You can find some decent interviews with them on the web...infact I think one from hintmag was posted here some time ago, you might want to do a search if you like the work.
