Two years after being cast to fill the iconic blue-and-red skin-tight suit in the 2006 hit Superman Returns, actor Brandon Routh is still busy trying to save the world. The brawny 29-year-old (who bears a stunning resemblance to Christopher Reeve) recently hit the campaign trail with friend Kal Penn (Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle) in support of Barack Obama. "I had been undecided between Hillary and Obama," says Routh. "Then I heard him speak and it was just incredible -- I was blown away. So I said, 'How can I be involved?'" Routh helped drum up support for Obama by speaking to young people in Iowa (his home state), New Hampshire and Las Vegas. Aside from talking policy with college students, the newest Man of Steel has been hard at work on several new films. Routh was recently cast as another legendary hero, this time from the famous Italian comic-book series Dylan Dog. They're not easy shoes to fill, and Routh admits he might just prefer doing something funny. "Comedy is my first love," he says while digging into a double order of enchiladas at a Santa Monica taco stand. "I always think of Clark [Kent] as a comedic role, but not everybody sees it that way." As for rumors of a follow-up to Superman Returns, Routh's lips are sealed. "The sequel?" he asks rhetorically. "Stand in line." In the meantime, look for Routh in the Bret Easton Ellis adaption The Informers, out later this year.
