ive had the extreme pleasure of speaking with monique lhuillier's mom (by the way, an article abt monique will come out in PEOPLE mag in June). Monique herself hailed from the Philippines (which is where i am) so i was lucky to have the chance to interview her mom. Monique herself will be coming to the Philippines sometime soon and we will definitely be the premiere magazine to feature her gowns.
Anyway i see a veer away from the usual bustier gown, (which i myself am so tired of seeing).
Lace is back with a vengeance, beautiful delicate french alencon lace draped against the body and gathered together with a long satin sash is one of my favorite styles.
it spells class/ and is reminiscent of grace kelly's gown when she married prince rainier, (sans the bouffant skirt). It works well with a simple unembellished a-line skirt.
i personally like that a bride wears something that makes her look fresh on her wedding day.
while it is fun to play dressup a-la queen victoria with the elaborate detail on her wedding gown (layers of lace and silk) i find myself thinking that it really isnt so much the dress that makes the bride. its the aura of glow she carries with her as she walks down that aisle to marry the man she loves.
i guess im so sick of looking at wedding gowns since i am in that line of magazine work but it is indeed a fresh sight to behold when i see a bride NOT wearing a bustier gown
