You may have already figured it out Boobah, it being 3 weeks later and all:p , but the quote refers to how when women get older, they can either have a fleshier body with a more youthful rounded face or they can have an extremely worked out and aerobicized slim body with a bony, angular face.
The quote was said by neither Deneuve or Bardot btw- it was said if i remember rightly by Kathleen Turner and she said it because she had gotten bigger with age but felt her face still looked soft and wasn't just hard angles.

ok, so basically u can only keep a nice face if u let ur body go? if u work out all the time and stuff ur face will look severe and unattractive?

ok well i think i get it. thanks orchide. :flower: :flower:

I think Deneuve and Bardot are the quintessential examples of how this is true. That said I think Bardot is one of the worlds top beauty and style icons.

You've mentioned my two favourites beauty of all times in just one post!

Do you mind Sienna Miller's Alfie hair? ;)

I don't think Bardot was the best actress. Yep she's got sex appeal but like someone else said here, I don't think she was exactly 'classy.' She was more a pin up.

^ MacPherson looks so cheesy doing it...

Yes, the pics of Elle doing BB are really not great! But I must say that I didn't like Kate Moss'phase either when she was copying Bardot eventhough I do appreciate Kate...
Some pics of BB found on discosantigos.com:

She's my style icon.

I swear, I was going to dye my naturally blonde hair black, and then I saw a picture of her and it convinced me to stay blonde and banged.

Love her.

a little tribute from style.com

Brigitte Bardot may not have invented the breathless blonde genre—Marilyn Monroe was the head of that pack—but there's no denying that "Bebe" put an inimitably French spin on the American original. The seductively messy mass of buttery curls framing an impish, good-natured grin, all set atop abundant curves and legs as long as the Eiffel Tower, added up to a delightfully headspinning bombshell à la française. No wonder Bardot's particular incarnation of femininity continues to inspire; just take a look at Spring's runways, where kittenish blondes abounded and va-va-voom sex appeal was to the fore.

it came with some pics

Could anyone post like a specific iconic outfit of hers? Or a dress, accessory, anything really that defines her specific status as a style icon?
