You may have already figured it out Boobah, it being 3 weeks later and all , but the quote refers to how when women get older, they can either have a fleshier body with a more youthful rounded face or they can have an extremely worked out and aerobicized slim body with a bony, angular face.
The quote was said by neither Deneuve or Bardot btw- it was said if i remember rightly by Kathleen Turner and she said it because she had gotten bigger with age but felt her face still looked soft and wasn't just hard angles.

ok, so basically u can only keep a nice face if u let ur body go? if u work out all the time and stuff ur face will look severe and unattractive?

I think Deneuve and Bardot are the quintessential examples of how this is true. That said I think Bardot is one of the worlds top beauty and style icons.
