oh!! i just inhereted a few cameo brooches from my grandmother.
what do you think of a 16 year old wearing them tho?
i think it's great! :)
you can dress them up or down so you won't give off a 'too matronly' vibe. [/b][/quote]
thanks!!!

I love brooches!

I wear them on my cardigans (instead of using the buttons), on blazers and jackets, and on my vintage scarves and shawls. Unfortunately I don't have that many brooches myself, but I think I'll make my way over to ebay ;) . I did see the cutest brooch yesterday though, a flower enamel one, in the coolest green colour

I'm so jealous of my grandmother, she has the most amazing collection of brooches. She wears a different one every time I see her, it's her number 1 fashion accessory :flower: .

I went to a yard sale today and found some beautiful vintage brooches!! :woot: They belonged to the lady's mother, and the lady didn't wear jewellery, so she was just selling all of it!

I got a blue plastic elephant with a rhinestone eye, a wreath with tiny faux pearls and rhinestones, a rose and a bow with locket! The lady insisted on giving me the red metal elephant with the rolling eyes, because she said that he and the blue elephant were brothers...

So happy now

The blue elephant one is just :woot: :crush: I like the red elephants eyes. They are like the ones on the funny stickers I had when I was small. Very cute.

I love when the sellers are talkative like the lady you bought them from. Guess you should wear the elephants at the same time too now that they are brothers :P

Got this yesterday... couldn't resist
That is the cutest brooch, i've ever seem.....congrat's

Brooches remind me of my great-gran- she had a huuuuuuuge collection; I was really fascinated with them as a kid, so she'd send me one for my birthday every year. I didn't notice it back then, but she always sent me the nicest ones.

One of my favorites is an enamel parrot with a red head, yellow body, and blue wings, and some sort of smooth dark stone for the eyes. It was one of her oldest ones, I like thinking that she wore it too when she wasn't much older than me. :)

I have never worn a brooch--but i am loving this idea!! I will have to go buy some! B)

Mmmm, yes..
You find the nicest in the strangest places.
Have robbed plenty from my granny over the years. She's dead so I doubt that she's that bothered.

Is there anywhere I can buy cameos that don't look like a lady's profile? My old music teacher had one, and it was a carved portrait of a lady practicing her cello, with her cat sitting on the floor. I fell in love with it, and have never been able to find it since.

this is my newest...by ben-amun...i really love it.

i also have gotten a few from Banana Republic, well priced.

^I like that, awesome colors, esp. for Fall!

I saw a REALLY amazing one at this antique mall yesterday. $45 dollars though.

Its a very dead place, so I'm sure it will be there next time. Until then I'm gonna look some more for something more reasonably priced.

yeah i only want antique brooches. would hate to walk around and see someone having the exact same one. I went to one antique place and they had a nice one for 45 but i was kind of hoping for under 20 and then I got 4 for 33! so keep searching ocean!!

love the elephants... i like to put fun brooches on bags .. sometimes i even stick them in my hair ... if they cooperate

Oooh I'm so inspired now!

I love the elephant brooches :woot: ( you HAVE to wear them together! ), the idea to put a brooch on a ribbon around your wrist, wearing brooches in the summer on tanks instead of necklaces.

I  The Fashion Spot.

I have this rather gaudy golden brooch in the shape of a leopard with faux diamond eyes that my Dad got me in Thailand. I'm now thinking it might look quite cute on a tank in the summer - if it's not too big, otherwise on a bag.

Thank you everyone for posting!! I have to clarify, only the first one (the Chanel strawberry brooch is mine), the others are just pics from ebay ;)

Hmm brooches on bags you say? Why is it that I never thought of that before!! I MUST try it!! Thank you for the suggestion, how wonderful :woot: My only worry is... wouldn't it leave holes in the bag, because the fabric of bags tend to be stiffer and more constructed?

hmmm, maybe you could tie a silky scarf on the bag or an organsa bow & pin the brooch to that?
