Built by Wendy

Well, as promised, I went to my showroom today, and stopped by her store.
didnt buy anything as the menswear is not really my style.
but to post an objective review. the stuff is really nice for the price she is selling for.Well made with sophisticated suttle detailing. Jeans are about $120-140, she has some really interesting (well made) T-shirts for $30-70, there are some breezy chloe-esque blouses for less than $100 , she also has shoes, sneakers, Hanbags, belts, and a book she rote and patterns for sale.
the only problem is i find the clothing somewhat basic, maybe its her aesthetic, but i would personally like to see a fe more "interestingly designed" pieces.
today would have been a good day to go there, they had 20% off on all the merchandise in the store this evening!!!!!!!!

I saw the "Sew U" on Urban Outfitters and I was tempted to get it.

Any reviews?

I'm a fan of this line. It does seem a bit hipster-ish, but understated and cool. Fun but still basic, can easily be played up.

One of my favorite local boutiques carries a small selection of Built By Wendy items. Seems to be of good quality, especially for the price.

I like Built by Wendy - yes it is basic, but that is the point. It's for people who don't want to look like they are wearing clothes not fashion.

If I shopped for clothing I would be a Built by Wendy customer. Maybe I should buy a pattern -

i agree with finalfashion, it's very basic but that is the point. i have some built by wendy things from nearly ten years ago that still look au courant and relevant because of their simplicity. i would say that is a strength of the line and a reason why i shop there.

i agree that a lot of her pieces from ages ago still look great now...
but i never see it in stores really...
i'm surprised...

^^ Its the actress, Robin Tunney.

Does anyone know anything about the fit of her blouses? True to size, small or large? Thanks.

i love her cotton camisoles, and i'm really happy that she has previous seasons in her online shop!

For the fall 2007 collection page, there is a bunch of photos that play at the top and i'm trying to find the ensemble where the model is laying down on the phone wearing what looks like a printed cardigan and satin ruffled skirt and i cant find it on the website. can anyone help me out? i'll have to check out her downtown store this weekend.

hi all, i've just listed a bunch of her simplicity sewing patterns on ebay. please check the ebay thread for the links! :flower:

I haven't bought any blouses but I do have a couple of coats/jackets and I can tell you that they fit true to size.

^Thanks, someone told me on another forum that they run half a size larger for button downs/blouses and a size larger for knits, just in case anyone else was wondering.

my friend loves her. i've been to her shop a couple of times in L.A. Didn't know you could shop online.

I love her new spring collection, I recently picked this dress up:

The rest of her spring collection will probably be out in the next month, there are a few more things that I'm eyeing.
