Burberry Resort 2024 London

the wavy optical checks remind me a little of Prada Spring/Summer 2008 though that used a different colour scheme but it's still a cool idea.

also it's good to see Lily Cole again.

I’m a real fan of Riccardo. He is fantastic designer and I will always support him.
I liked what Daniel Lee did at Bottega Veneta too…But we have to admit, just by looking at this pre-collection, that the connection between his aesthetic and whatever Burberry is supposed to represent works perfectly.
It just works! I think the clothes are fantastic, clever, wearable and believable. You can pull a piece from his Burberry with an obvious emblem of the house without the fear of being tacky.
I wish it had more knitwear though…

The bags are good but the footwear is a bit of a mess…
I can do with the furry heels but trying to chase after past hits at BV is ridiculous…Even more when it’s not well done.

Maybe a more classic and timeless approach to footwear is needed because the sneakers and chunky boots are ugly.

I know, the expectations in numbers are high with Burberry but I hope their price point with the new appointment of Lee won’t be too prohibitive. That’s the real issue today because the Asian market can drive the sales of Burberry but in Europe, nobody is spending 4K for a brand that « available ».

He's finally finding his way, which sounds exciting. Looks much more glamorous and less streety and I appreciate that. Not too keen on accessories and shoes either.

I agree with you Lola. The bags are indeed very cool, I hope there are going to be close-up or details pictures to see more textures etc.

i wonder if they decided on pushing for the upscale market only now instead of the clear 3 divisions during Tisci's tenure? This collection seems to be more pointed at Hermes crowd.

It looks very easy and wearable but there's no fun in the collection. Though the collection is a bit fresh I'm not sure if it is any more burberry than Tiscis. Tiscis outerwear sections always stayed true to the heritage. It was the push for streetwear that started even before his appointment that ruined his Burberry collections. When he stayed away from doing too glam or too street he usually nailed it.

I think they're going to push their high-end line now. At least that's the main focus of the new store concept. Is it a good idea, tho? Because I would never say it's a real luxury brand. In fact, I'd associate it more with the trench coat and the outerwear. I also agree there's no fun in those clothes, majority of the looks are weird just for the sake of being 'extravagant', but it doesn't really work. The colour combinations are pretty blah, too.

There's still so much to change at the brand to make the Lee's creative direction successful.

Agreed seems everyone forgets that the customer base that got alienated by tiscis burberry where those who originally bought it for the logos and for the checks. They were the logomania even before logomania was a thing. The challenge is how to make that fresh and fashionable again. They were pretty much the UK Michael Kors.

This is a lot of fabric for Resort. Very schlumpy looking. The heaviness of the shoes don't help either.

It is better better than his debut collection which I will admit. Looks easier if that makes sense. But the clothes themselves still have too much going to really feel timeless for the sake of having them look more "fashion" (which was Tisci's undoing in the end), but not enough substance to really allow for a stronger new Burberry point of view. Don't mind some of the prints, but they're not executed very well.

Great to see Lily Cole though, such a shame she's only used in two looks.

I love it! I was right to believe in this man. I should be able to see the presentation Tuesday during HC in Paris so I am really excited. :grinningwsmilingeyes:
