LONDON, September 21, 2005 – C-Neeon, Clara Kraetsch and Doreen Schulz's new art-based label out of Berlin, was the winner of the 2005 Hyères Festival, a prestigious Europe-wide young-designer competition. What they showed charmed and impressed the judges with the energy and integrity of its twenty-first century adherence to Bauhaus design principles—all bright hand-blocked prints and graphic shapes reimagined for today's street and club generation.

This season, C-Neeon accepted an invitation to present in London, a platform that, if not exactly rivaling the full klieg-lit fashion exposure of the Paris runway, at least provides a second-tier transitional space to set young designers on their way. Their collection—mostly asymmetric tops with block-colored and diagonally striped panels over roller-printed leggings and jeans—channeled the aesthetic of early German modernism without looking like an art history thesis. Taken apart, the T-shirtdresses, leggings, and hooded sweatshirts, stamped with bold teal, red, black, and cream graphics looked like commercial propositions. That's what London's Topshop, Britain's biggest youth retailer thinks, anyway. The company commissioned C-Neeon to design a mini-line.
No sooner had my love for Bauhaus design been reawakened by Jonathan Saunders than I found this, and let excitement get the better of me...

YES!!! I've been waiting for this.:)!! :flower: :flower: :flower: :flower: :flower:

They very much embody the spirit of Berlin, my most beloved city, especially the graphic architecture of East Berlin Bauhaus, so coool...

Usually, when designers do "Bauhaus", they'd put a Mondrian print on a mini-dress or some such cliche, so I really appreciate their creativity.

I've always like their edgier outfits as a counterpoint to the "lady" pouffy stuff out there, especially as an emerging trend after we're tired of the frills. I'm a bit disappointed, though, that this isn't very different from their past collections. Still, I'd wear most of these pieces.

love it all...i've been waiting for this for best part of the week now...didn't dissapoint...the girls just do what they want...and it's great...

I must say though, it may be tricky to wear the pieces individually...

You have to be SUPER skinny to wear those tights...

agree with jhaime.

having a strong characteristic of (modern) culture movement, i can relate how they're strongly connected with the berlin music scene. they are giving me an impact like little red riding hood did and i'm looking forward to check out their pieces...

i really like some of those dresses and tops (and while the tights are cool, i agree theyd would look like hell on an avergae jane) . i think the pieces would be lovely by themselves, coordinated with some other solid color pieces ;)

I am very amused by several pieces in this collection. Such as outfits 2 and 6 in post 1, outfit 3 in post 2 and outfits 4 and 6 in post 3. Also some more that I saw at style.com. I am loving the colours and the wild combination and patterns. Really nice. The rest is sometimes a bit too much, but it mostly is a maybe ok, maybe not ok... I give it a B-

Exactly.

I love a lot from it. Let's pretend the huge heinous jogging pants aren't there. This skirt is fantastic  Thanks for the introduction Jennifer.

i was a bit unsure at first, but it's growing on me. i like the colors, although it doesn't work on everything. nothing too innovative, but it looks so comfortable and wearable. favorite outfits are numbers 3 and 6 in both posts 1 and 2 and number 5 in post 3. but there are some cute skirts, tops and tights in other outfits as well. i don't think you'd have to be super skinny to wear the tights, but the right proportion skirt would help.

But Bauhaus is about bringing everything back to the basis by showing the construction and materials without embellishments and wild colours. This is pretty much the opposite of that. Plus, Mondriaan is not Bauhaus, he is De Stijl also known as neo-plasticism :p

Then again, De Stijl's major influence was Bauhaus :p

True, so was impressionism to realism and they are not the same B)

Special indeed. Thanks, jennifer.
And I agree with mishahoi, and think that the pieces would look best separately and with lots of a solid colour. Well, black. :p

The black cape(?) with just the print poking through from underneath is MAGNIFICENT and a lot of other stuff is beautiful too, some of it though is a little too art student for me, which I realise is the point and love in moderation, but sometimes I find it can take over the clothes.

It dosn't really exite me very much, I like it, but it's not very engaging to me.

fesh+non pretentious looking+with concept -very nice combination:)

hmm some of it is cute. very bold collection but those MC Hammer pants are pushing it.

your right 5avenue...I must admit, the prints can engulf the clothing...or digest the entire item to a certain extent...

I found with a couple of the garments...you really need to disgard the actual prints to see how good some of the pieces actually are...
