Calvin Klein F/W 2016.17 New York

Those agate inserts that sort of recall the famous white Gucci dress by Tom Ford with the gold belt in the cutout are absolutely gorgeous. I mean it seems entirely impractical but it's beautiful.

The rest of the collection is pretty tight too. I love the surprise of patterns and prints at Calvin Klein for the second season in a row.

The black and white plaid looks remind me too much of Dries (particularly menswear F/W 10), it's quite uncomfortable. I also find Costa's recent obsession with fur very disingenuous (I hate fur in general but esp when used like this)...he doesn't know what the hell to do with it.

Otherwise I have no problem with the collection, it's fine but Costa has obviously run out of anything interesting to say. I think this is one brand that could benefit from a fresh perspective...CK has lot so much relevance in terms of their mainline collection in a short space of time.

the dresses are simply gorgeous, I cannot wait to see what they look like IRL:heart:

It is very Tom Ford’s Gucci with the inserts and the grand, pimp fur lapels, Spike— and also very Calvin-monastic. There’s a thoughtful balance there that doesn’t come off as a rip-off that’s so right for the times.

The sans-pattern (I loathe that B&W plaid) offerings are just a sharp, graphic dream to me. Timeless, but not traditional. I can’t imagine any high-street ripping off any of these cuts and constructions because it can’t be done unless it’s done well. Then again, I can’t see the Instakidz would be interested in such gimmickless, thoughtful refinement. So win-win!

Thank you jexxica for the pics!

This!
Some pieces also reminds me of the Gucci FW 2002 collection. I believe that that collections was somewhere in his moodboard for both his spring and fall 2016.

It's quite good. Not groundbreaking but chic and less stiff.

I love this collection, very clean and structural! There are a lot of timeless pieces and you can tell Costa put a lot of thoughts into the process this time. The only thing that I am not really fond of is the prints, like Lexi's second look. By the way, I think he tends to do better with fall collections.

Another favorite of mine from NY. I think it is a lot better than last season's collection.

I think that's what I like most about this collection and his Spring collection, that they seem much more in tune with women's bodies than his work has often been. It's very Calvin of him.

It's quite a good chow for CK, I love the embellishments, the silhouettes and most of the prints- that smudgy brown one though :yuk:

This is the best CK collection in a very long time. Absolutely love everything.

Though this collection is pretty decent, I really want to see Raf Simons for Calvin Klein.

^ So that it can become even less sensual? That would just be a travesty.

^^ If they ever need a replacement for Calvin Klein, Dion Lee is the man they should call, period. I can think of no one else more fitting for the job.

One way or another, I do realy like this collection and I've been really liking what Francisco has been putting out recently. It feels much easier, less contrived, more fluid. Love it.

Much agreed, I always believe Dion Lee deserves bigger recognition in the industry and he is indeed the perfect fit for the brand!
