Cate Blanchett

I'm very intrigued by her character's backstory in Ocean's Eight. She's really pulling off the rockstar/edgy aesthetic. It's fun to see her in those funky outfits especially next to her looks at events which are always so refined.

Her style from the Oceans movie is what I'd imagine tFS would do if they were styling someone. Lol.

Cate Blanchett Has Just Found the Coolest Snow Boot for Winter

The key winter weapon in the city is a good pair of boots, and Cate Blanchett has apparently found the ideal pair for stylishly navigating the post-snow slush. Yesterday in New York, the actress, who stars on stage in The Present, swapped out her slick suiting for tailored separates, which she grounded with a pair of platform, punk-inspired thick-sole boots.

Blanchett’s off-duty style tends to be refined and composed; the Academy Award-winning actress often sporting plimsolls or Roger Vivier’s bejeweled sneakers to offset her lo-fi ensembles. Yesterday, however, she took a slightly tougher tack. Her mauve topper was right in line with her menswear-influenced look, and her lug sole boots proved the perfect accessory, echoing the motif on her oversize tote, and making easy work of the puddles clogging the city’s sidewalks and streets.

The new accessory making waves? The pussyhat. The pink hat with cat ears has been seen on the heads of feminists and girl power go-getters across the country.

The Ghostlight Project invited members of the theater community from all over the U.S. to gather outside of theaters to “create a ‘light’ for dark times ahead,” according to the project’s website. And the actress showed up fully armed in her livery of choice: the pussyhat.

Wearing the headpiece made a major statement in terms of who she’s fighting for and what her cause for concern is: women. It also made it easier to pick her out in the crowd.

But it wasn’t only women Blanchett was likely sticking up for. People attended the event to “make, or renew, a pledge to stand for and protect the values of inclusion, participation, and compassion for everyone, regardless of race, class, religion, country of origin, immigration status, (dis)ability, age, gender identity, or sexual orientation.”

The Australian actress, who is performing on Broadway in The Present, was joined by her children. She carried her daughter Edith, who wore a pink coat, and at least two of her sons joined her at the rally, which took place in Times Square. The rest of Blanchett’s outfit was more toned down than her statement-making hat. She wore a leather jacket over a sweater, which she was wearing over a collared shirt.

Other stars who took part in the Ghostlight Project included Kate Mulgrew, Josh Groban, and Sally Field.

The Pussyhat Project, which launched Thanksgiving weekend, is encouraging knitters to knit pink cat-eared hats for women to wear to the Women’s March on Washington. “Wearing pink together is a powerful statement that we are unapologetically feminine and we unapologetically stand for women’s rights,” according to the website. And why “p*ssy” ears? Remember that tape that leaked of Donald Trump talking to Billy Bush right before the election? Yeah…

Blanchett in a pussyhat might be our favorite image of the week; add her hat choice to the list of reasons to love her.
