A few years ago I watched an amazing documentary called French Beauty. It dealt more specifically with cinema goers fascination with French actresses and it features an interview with Deneuve about beauty. It's an absolute must-see!Now it's being repeated!

I wrestle with this one.

She has so many flawed, problematic elements: narrow face, masculine, "bloom out" jaw, eyes that look a little sunken-in at times, hard-looking nose, etc. But the way everything comes together is unique and oftentimes startling (in a + way). She also has lots of screen presence, especially in B&W (something about color brings out the harshness of her features).

I don't think my opinion of her will ever remain fixed in one place. GAH!

I used to feel that way, but a few months ago I decided that she's very beautiful after seeing more of her early movies. Despite all the problems you mentioned, I really like her eyes, lips, skin, hair and nose (especially from the side). Here's a still from Belle De Jour (that movie was her prettiest moment, imo
