This is the book you mean "Up Close and Personal."
I can't find any reviews on it, but I do remember at the time of its release that people who had been expecting it to reveal more about the glacial icon, especially relating to the death of her sister (since she never seemed to mourn her) were disappointed. Sounded as if it was a bit more mundane, writing more about what she did on-set when filming.
I flicked through it once in a bookshop and there are hardly any pictures (most of them are the usual Catherine pics you see, nothing new apart from a few family ones when she was a kid).

I love that film simply for the fact that there are so many fabulous french actresses camping it up. Such a joy!
