Celebrity Houses #2

This is Jodie Foster's LA house which she had just listed for sale. I like the house, but the decor, for the most part, is pretty ho-hum.

The asking price is £5,500,000 or $8,616,300. I'd have expected it to be higher. But then again, this house doesn't have alot of history and judging by howfew listing photos there are, I wouldn't be surprised if it needs major renovations in some areas. I believe it is the converted wing or possibly even stables of a much larger and grander estate that was torn down sometime in the past 100 years.

Wow, I love Mrs Huffington's apartment! Do you know in what part of NYC it is?

Lady Gaga just rented this apartment. At first my reaction was fairly "blah", but these aren't her furnishings, so I am sure it will look very different while she lives there. The outdoor space is amazing, though. I would absolutely love that view.

The view is indeed gorgeous!

Arianna's flat is really really nice !

Elijah Wood bought this home in Austin, Texas for $1,000,000.

I would give anything to live in Ariana H's Manhattan apartment, so perfect.

Robbie's indoor pool is divine.

What a nice home Elijah has! It seems so comfortable yet elegant at the same time.

Just looked through this thread for the first time. Thanks to all the posters! :flower:

A lot of these homes look kind of cold or maybe just not that "personal"; I realize that this is the nature of the "staged house shoot" in part (see mags like "Apartamento" for an alternative).

But it still seems like many of these celeb's homes have been "decorated" by some designer and/or design firm, and not lovingly cobbled together by that person, to his or her own taste and style (like the little tours at "Apartment Therapy" which are so adorable). I guess that's to be expected, but if I had all that money, I would revel in collecting art and furnishing my home all by myself, and with my family.

In terms of recent posts, I have to say that I am totally surprised to see Meryl Streep's home looking so minimalist and devoid of much personality! Somehow I pictured her as being more of the "warm" type in terms of decor.

Florence Welch and Sofia Coppola have places that totally suit them! :)

not sure if it has been posted already, but Inez and Vinoodh's apt. looks a little more haphazard, a bit 'undone' but still very chic (how can you go wrong with an yves klein coffee table?). It seems to be more personal and less Architectural Digest.

I agree about them being staged. Part of the problem is that these photos are taken when a celebrity buys or sells a home (they're the real estate listing photos) so they may actually be staged and the furniture may not belong to the celebrity in question. When you sell a house they always encourage you to make it as impersonal as possible.

For example, Maryl Streep bought that house, but those are the listing photos, so that's not her furniture/art/etc. Sadly for the purposes of this thread, some celebrities don't have their home photographed for magazines and such. It would be awesome if they all did.

Oh, and I agree with you on the Apartment Therapy tours. I go through every last one of them. haha

Yes, it's true. My sister and her husband are architects and whenever they sell a house they hire someone to put in all the furniture and artwork for the photos and visits.

Elijah Wood's bathroom is nice, but how can a bath be on a wooden floor, wouldn't it rot the floor???

I think the wood has water-proof sealer or something and probably is coated with some sort of wax. Or at least I hope it is.
