Celebrity Houses #2

^^ that place is my idea of purgatory. Honestly, bottom of my heart, if you ask me to choose between that and some hut in Ghana 2 hours away from like.. clean water, I'd pick the latter over and over.. there is no way I'm spending January-April in Manhattan inside a laboratory.

^^^ You’re so dramatic!

I’m absolutely drawn and adore such space— more so within the context that it’s in one of the most congested metropolitans in the world: It’s so Fritz Lang’s Metropolis with the lowly workers toiling away far far far belong, and the fortunate anointed few high high high above it all. I cannot abide by tight, cluttered, small spaces; not even those stately manors that are cluttered with so much material, where every space/wall/window is crammed with crap— like Diana Vreeland’s home displayed here. Homes like that make my skin crawl with the feel of mold, unsightly critters and worse, lurking within all that. And forget about sleeping amongst such decor…

I had found an older issue of 1980s L’UOMO back in the 90s, where there was this feature on Alaia’s NYC apartment/penthouse: Gleaming hardwood floors and shimmering glass windows like this home. His bedroom was photographed with just a futon and a rack of clothes that’s so 80s-minimalism. To this day, I'm still so drawn to the stark, striking imagery of expensive emptiness high amongst the NYC skies. And I still have that L’UOMO issue.

@Phuel do you have that issue of L'Uomo Vogue you're referencing? Would love to see Alaïa's apt!

I am not a big fan of modern, I can appreciate it, but no way could I live in it. Reminds me of David Hockey's work. Would love to have one of his pieces hanging in my house, but again, wouldn't want to live in it.

It's my full time job!

Well this thread has given a whole new meaning to 'cluttered'.. did you see the random wall with curtains? I have so many questions, one of them being.. if you can afford a mansion, why could you not afford to open a window there? just what is on the other side that a real window was off limits?

I have not made peace with Manhattan in the winter yet (it's not the cold, not the 'snow', just the 'you died 7 weeks ago' stillness) but I have to say, the sexy crime scene vibe of Eric Bernard's apt in the 80s.. :exhaling:.. it's a little cluttered, but more like fighting darkness with darker.

François Catroux had the best taste and Marie Helene de Rothschild was the queen of Paris…The result of those two names looked terrible.

Now that you’ve mentioned Hockney, actually reminds me of John Register— who I adore LOL

…The empty loft is designer Zoran’s (what happened to him???)— not Alaia's… Don’t know why I though it was the latter’s.
