celine is the talk of town today in Paris fashion circles..
here a review from vogue.uk :flower:

A sleek collection of typical elegance and quality procured Michael Kors a standing ovation as he bid farewell to the Celine catwalk in Paris yesterday. With Caroline Bessette Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn as his muses, he fused a Fifties-style slim silhouette with a touch of Manhattan glamour and added an American sportswear element for energy.
Creamy cashmere polonecks came above crocodile pencil skirts and pretty full-skirts, some with lace overlays, swung out beneath thinly belted off-the-shoulder tops. With plenty of black, tan and grey punctured with an occasional showstopper in pillar box red, these neat-waisted ladies, who wear Capri length leggings when off duty and fling a leopard print coat around their shoulders when they want more attention, were the epitome of modern Parisian chic.

Having reigned supreme at Celine for seven years, Kors made it known that he was frustrated at being third best to Louis Vuitton and Christian Dior with parent company LVMH. "It became apparent to me that Celine was not going to become the priority at LVMH, so why am I going to keep trying to make that happen," he said recently. Now free to concentrate on his own US-based label, he leaves chairman Jean-Marc Loubier to search for a successor - with Dsquared2 twins Dean and Dan Caten currently odds-on favourite.

And Kors, who saluted Lawrence Stroll, the backer of his label, as his took his bow, admitted that he was sad, but it was time to go. "I'm sad because my staff are crying," he said. "But I feel like I managed a good job and I think I raised the kids well and now it's time for them to go off into the world on their own." (March 5 2004, AM)

Its too ordinary for my liking. Audrey Hepburn and Carolyn Bessette...what a surprise

im not a fan of the bags at all

this collection isnt very CELINE to me......the whole image of celine has become a young very FUN woman and this collection didnt seem to fit that.....as Lena said......the skirt lengths are off too

love the make up & hair
mat lips trend emerging?

i did not like leather accessories -apart the belts- or the sunglasses
they seemed too old and serious for this kind of clothes,
he needed something more fresh to bring some air to those great clothes

I hate to be a "Gucci-monger" again, and I genuinely like this collection, but that belt is so identical to what Gucci has been doing in the late 90's it's not even funny. :ninja:

I thought the first exit (Karolina Kurkova) defines the mood of the collection very well.

Kors showed many shift dresses topped by sloucy coats or capes, and the belts (the thinner the better) draw attention to the waist. The shape is quite relaxed, as is the mood.

The red is delicious.

I don't like the accessories much.

My favorite Kors for Celine collections have to be the entire year of 2002. The flowers and nautical stripes in the spring, and the impeccable office wear in the winter.

i know this red is the best,
thats why i posted the red detail photo before,
it was not for the belt, it was for the colour :ninja:

it's funny ...the length of the skits that some of you are questioning was very popular in the 50's/40's  i happen to really like it...but i find that many people don't...i just had this debate with someone over a skirt that i picked for them...i thought it looked brilliant and they felt frumpy...i find that it's all about the right shoe with this skirt length...manolos work very well...carolyn besette kennedy wore this length very well-her outfits were from yohji when he was in a retro 50's mood...i guess it's not for everyone, but i genuinely love it...the girl i was dressing eventually came around... :P

i'm surprised to say that i loved most of this collection...i hope he carries this vibe forward with his own label in the future... :flower:

i'm also surprised i like this ...
as for the hems, they needed just a tiny bit shorter, no more than 4-5cm thats all.
some of his lengths are 'insecure' a bit off, but on the bad way..
anyway, its only a detail ;)

I loved this whole collection. It was very classic, yet fresh. Great "working girl" type wear.. look at this suit!! :crush:

that was also absolutely fresh ;)

i love this red suit

I dont like the accesories, his heels have always beeen a little low & the bags are dull.

I feel that the clothing is very elegant, investment dressing at its best :flower:

I don't really see anything great or amazing in this collection. Though I can so see why its the talk of town.

He definetly used a Caroline Bessette Kennedy and Audrey Hepburn as silhouette on clothes one comes to expect from Kors; retro travel wear. He also went ladylike with some fur jackets, tweed suits and gloves. It looked like Carolina Herrera to me. The black gowns were good, too. So in the Celine image.

Overall its a good collection for Celine. Something that Celine really needed; Chic, ladylike sports/travel wear.

i know we've all read the rumors that kors could possibly be eyeing the position at givenchy...was it just me or did anyone get a very givenchy moment from this collection?

maybe it's just me, but i always associated a certain playfulness and youthful energy with celine (it was a children's house in the beginning wasn't it?)...i just saw none of that here. i saw nothing but kors here and i hate to say it, but it looked quite a bit more sophisticated than his eponymous collection in new york.

 this collection was quite lovely, lovely tailoring - I guess 'smart' would be a good word to use here :flower:

:woot: what??? Kors for Givenchy?
thats new to me ..he could sure be usefull there ;)
