Celine Menswear S/S 2021 Paris

^This is not really for them. It is for the older ones who want to look like a "gen-x'ers". Fashion always loved youth and still loves it.

Regarding the collection, they will not have me on their side. This is the side of "Hedi" I hate. I want his sleek, black, timeless and very chic clothes.

I really wish he would go back to his sleek, simple clothes. They might even be more relevant than what he’s doing now. This collection just feels so contrived and insincere.

Is this for the kids (or whoever who wants to feel young) who buy Balenciagas and Dior Mens? How can you catch those customers without proposing a unique sneaker silhouette, a trendy bag or a relevant collaboration? Celine in itself or Hedi Slimane doesn’t mean anything to them. A Celine logo plastered on pieces which you can buy at quarter a price somewhere can’t attract younger buyers. I can’t see any pieces in that collection that is a “must-cop”.

i have liked hedi since his dior homme days and whilst i dont look waifish anymore and his celine may not be the type of collections that goes into museums, i dont get why there is so much hate here.

this is fresh, it is now and it is wearable. Fashion comes in all variations, and i think this is fine. cutting is impeccable, material is finest and most importantly, most of it would look `normally` good on the wearer. And no, please dont say you can find this in Zara/ H&M, no matter how much they can try to copy, the end look wont be the same.

Fresh?

Faith Connexion has been doing this look for years at this point and this is just it's uncool, more commercial cousin. And while you might not find this at Zara/H&M right now, this will no doubt be easy for their team to copy.

I may have to pick up a pair of those mirror pailette lounge shorts or pants. I will say the knits are quite nice but most of this is not what I would go to Celine for.

I'm sure this will be an unpopular opinion but I think it would have been fun to shoot a lookbook on NBA players. The styling and everything about this is very NBA pregame fashion. (i.e Lebon James, Russell Westbrook, Chris Paul, James Harden) but Hedi doesn't have that sense of humor to do something like that.

faith connexion silhouette doesnt look one bit like this, FC is also not sleek like this but you see a more decadent (torn and tattered?) looks which celine now, isnt.

zara etc copies everything but we all know they wont and will never look and feel the same, so whats the basis for comparison?
and you would go to celine for phobe philio-esque menswear right? this look that hedi created is exactly what philo is not.

I admit this is not cutting throat i-have-never-seen-this-sh*t fashion but it certainly is what people wants now now. Haider makes fantastic menswear that looks good on the hanger and the rack, but they are not very flattering for the average person to wear, if you havent known...

It's just not very exciting to see all these 'luxury' sweatshirts and -pants layered with hawaiian or checkered shirts. This is the Hedi Slimane I never cared for and it's not what I wear on a daily basis - If I go these lengths to spend my money on 'designer' clothes, I prefer that to be on something intelligently tailored and timeless. Here, I can only but find two suiting looks that fit this frame work and it's really frustrating that I have to dig through all this eyesore of trashy clothes to find so little I could find of a designer I very much enjoyed to wear in the past.

And that's exactly the problem. Gone are the days when designers made an effort to create new ideas and - God forbid - challenge people's taste, showing them something new to crave for...I, like most people here, don't really contend with HS's right to make sellable clothes (even if I seem to understand his new Celine is far from the cosmic success LVMH suits hoped for), it's just that his monothematic obsession with disenfranchised and rebel-ish adolescents is running so stale and predictable - not to mention verging on barely-legal territory (the man is 52 yo now). It's just so incredibly boring.

Haider makes fantastic menswear that looks good on the hanger and the rack, but they are not very flattering for the average person to wear, if you havent known...

It's a tad unfair to compare a super-star designer to a niche, albeit a very talented one, like Haider, they play on different leagues. And to be honest, one could extend this criticism to all designers clothes, they more or less all fit a very specific body type (lean).
All things considered, I still care more for Haider's work, even if it does not register on the freshness spectrum as it used to be, there is something heart-warming in his sticking to his point of view and not caring about what the kids want.
Is HS's cynical adolescent-wooing any better?

The only differences are the prices and the fabrics, because the construction of these clothes are nothing out of the ordinary and generic. Cookie-cutter!

And about the whole look...Pull & Bear, Bershka (and other trashy fast-fashion brands targeted to teenagers) have been making this kind of clothes since several years ago.

Hedi has not invented anything new here. Just fast-fashion equivalent for people with lots of money and zero interest in design (and a big interest in showing their status).

That´s the problem with using marketing in fashion, it´s a double-edge sword.

Most part of people don´t know what clothes they want, until they see them. In the other hand, marketing purpose is to give people exactly what they demand...so, how it is suppose to work in an industry where customers are unable to express exactly what they want in design terms??

It is just an incoherence! That´s why everything looks generic these days!

He did hire a Tiktoker couple seasons ago to front his campaign if I remember correctly
As for the collection itself
You can get all the clothes in a second hand store
The fit is more generous to guys without the skeleton figure I’ll give him that

I literally have all the pieces to the first in my closet right now.

I understand as well that these are better quality than zara and hm, but there are many better affordable options for buying basics before turning towards Celine by HS.
Also you hire a designer for a high fashion brand to design not to simply make clothes out of nice fabrics. If that’s all he wants to make or is capable of then go design for the kooples or something.
