Chalayan Homme Fw 06.07

Extremely wearable wardrobe (without the tricky fashion theory it stems from). He's got a great eye and I'm positive there's much more (up the sleeves) with remote details not visible here.

I really like this...this is the first collection of f/w 06.07 that I would actually consider getting something from. I like the cuts and it is simple, but there seem to be some great details.

im not sure what is going on here. his womenswear is sooo amazing in concept and theory. Why is he not implimenting the same sensibility into his menswear collections? I wish he would. I see subtle details mixed into this collection that are intersting but I always look forward to the shock value that he does so well. Overall too safe for my taste.

To be honest, except for the doubleshirtsleeves, I can't see all the "perspective" games that the reviewer was so bemused about, maybe it has to be seen up close. Wearable and boring....but at least he didn't resort to some silly theatrics to sell.

just checked the few pics posted at the link above,
much too 'basic' to ring a bell.. quite dissapointed by monsieur chalayan

absolutely agree, not only disappointing, but derivative (rolled up pants - cdg and more recently ann d., boxier short jackets - raf simons, wide neck sweaters - margiela) - which for Chalayan is A CRIME.

I am beginning to think that he doesn't touch menswear but leaves it to his assistants.

i'd say that is highly unlikely...
he's not really 'big' enough for something like that...
that only happens in places like lvmh...
though i supose anything is possible...

anyway...
chalayan menswear has been boring for a while now...
no big surprise there...
and the pieces i have tried on of his womenswear were all cut so strangely that most were unwearable...
his 'table' skirts were more reasonable...

i began to lose interest in him quite some time ago...
it really is a shame...
he can't seem to find the happy balance between commerciality and creativity...
he's become redundant...:ermm:...

Actually,if you remember,Chalayan's initial intentions for his menswear was to make easy, accessible things. So perhaps, that approach has finally shined through alot clearer here. I can't say that I've always loved his menswear as a whole...good pieces here and there but otherwise has always been rather mundane.

Even if his initial intentions were for his menswear to be easy and accessible. The clothes shown on style.com has in whole no Chalayan identity. GAP could have done this collection ...

The idea of "exaggerating" is being made quite dull, don't you think? Why did he choose the shirt to do with it. Looks really ill-fitting clothes:-)
