Chanel Cruise 2018 Paris

he legit has been doing the same thing for the last 4 resort years like...does he actually think he's killing it at this point.

I love Ancient Greece so I think this is lovely. Clothes could've been a bit more Greek and a bit less Chanel but still...

I loved it, clothes you'd actually want to wear on a vacation  I imagine we will see a lot of these looks at summer events.

Love, love, loooove this collection (I'm a sucker for anything Ancient Greek/Roman inspired btw):pink: Can't wait for the video to be released!

it's nice, but also the most boring Chanel resort collection. in fact, the house held it in paris instead of Greek making me wonder if Chanel is cutting budget.

A great collection.I also like his current muse arizona muse, vittoria cerretti. They inspired him a classic sultry woman.

Although I agree that he never really changes anything recently, season to season, I do quite love thic collection. Maybe because the Ancient Greece reference blends so well with Chanel's house codes. Those floral dresses that wafted on the runway were also just so divine!!

It's kind of boring, but it's still very beautiful.

A very beautiful Chanel collection. The long dresses and the draping is really amazing. The last part is really gorgeous.
It's one of the most easy to wear Chanel collection in recent years. It has a timeless appeal that i really like and i'm sure it will be quite successful on the redcarpet.

The Logo t-shirt will be sold-out like the "Coco libre" t-shirt from the Paris-Cuba collection.

The sad thing about brands like Chanel is maybe their signature. They have a lot of "tweed" and "knitwear" because those are the best seller pieces that people want when they go to a Chanel store. It is a bit of pity because i don't think the tweed is that interesting in this collection and i'm sure the clientele that was at the show will respond more to the long sexy dresses as they are quite something fresh coming from Chanel.

They wants their clients to consume in Paris and the best way for it is to invite them in the city. They are coming in Paris and can start shopping pieces from the Prefall collection. Also, Karl said that he did not found a place he liked in Greece so he decided to create here.
Plus i'm sure it must be exhausting at 80+ years old to travel around the world when they can simply do something here. And to have a show in Greece is also facing another potential controversy. Finally, they made the right decision by showing in Paris.

thanks for explaining, but I still believe budget cutting is the main factor here.

it's Chanel's 6th show in Paris in a row, i'm sure VIPS already get enough Paris after the Ritz. Do sth in convenience and avoid controversy is clearly not Chanel's style, if you notice, at least not Karl's. And "didn't find a place in Greece"?? come on, what an excuse, any spot in Athens would do much better than this fake scene. this show creates much much less heat than last year's cuba, in result, may hurt the sales next year. there are even less famous celebrities this time.

so i can't think of any solid reason than the budget issue to hold the show here.

i think because chanel have undertaken such international spectacles for cruise wear in the past few years, it's hard not to be a little underwhelmed by the setting and the set. It kind of looks like the set for a low budget tv movie about ancient greece. i don't think there's anything wrong with not jetting off to somewhere ridiculously extravagant, as long as the money and resources are put back into the clothes. Although the totally in no way possibly biased reviewers made out the gladiator heels were a 'standout', i find them ghastly, and taking the whole greek theme way too literally.

The luxury brands are kind of "hurt" by what is going on in Paris. Every reason is good enough to make people come and spend money...Even more than Anne Hidalgo (Paris's mayor) is pushing it really hard considering that the brand has invested in the city.

Chanel has so much power that helding a smaller show will not hurt their sales.

Karl's health is a valid reason to hold a show at the Grand Palais. I don't think that besides going to Milan for Fendi and Monaco for Royal duties, he has spent that much time outside of France.

About celebrities, i don't think that they have ever invited big superstars apart from their ambassadors at their shows.

If they wanted to cut budget, they would have held the show at Rue Cambon (like what they did for the Paris-Byzance). The Grand Palais is not really my definition of a cheap place to rent.

Anyway, i don't think that showing the collection this week was a good idea...Considering the french election that is everybody mind here.

Such a boring collection and some of it just looked silly with the blatant stereotyping of ancient Greek culture.

I loved the collection! Most of Chanel's cruise collections are a hit for me, if could afford them I would buy almost everything. Especially from this one!!!
As for not showing in Greece, well yes Karl's health is an issue and also a few months ago Gucci requested Acropolis for a show and the goverment said no so maybe Chanel didn't want a no for answer so they didn't even bother to ask, since it could hurt their image...:ermm:

Just saw the whole thing... I take this back. The Greek inspiration/references were more than enough; although some of those looks were a bit too... costumey and cheap-looking (others were exquisite, though).

Also the cast was incredibly unexciting.
