Chanel Iman

What campaigns have Sesilee booked? or Jourdan or Rose Cordero, or Lyndsey Scott? My point is that women of color have a very very difficult time booking big campaigns. Even the great Naomi and Tyra had their difficulties booking campaigns. Naomi has spoken about being black and having it much harder to book ads than her contemporaries. So before everyone thinks she'd do better at IMG or Women or Next, don't assume. The all have models of color there who have not done nearly as well as Chanel. Ultimately Chanel deserves most of the credit for that but Ford deserves some credit as well. And there have been many cases of models jumping ship when they were successful and then just floundering after they defected. Look no further than Chanel's former Ford mate Agnete who has done NOTHING since she went to Next.

Exactly, and to think that they have the backing of some of the most powerful taste makers in the industry and they still don't cast any of them in campaigns. Ford strikes me as an agency that's more focused on getting their models lucrative commercial campaigns that pay alot of money (VS for example) rather than prestigious "high fashion" ones.

I know! Chanel has had the full support of Anna Wintour and Us Vogue since her career began. If THE undisputed queen of fashion is backing you then you are almost guaranteed campaigns (Trentini!). She also seems to be a current favorite of Demarchelier. I still believe her "moment" has yet to occur and I'm waiting with baited breath!!!!!B)

I BELIEVE that Chanel deserves BALENCIAGA! C'mon now! She even needs BETTER LOOKS on the runway for the show. I can totally see Chanel shut it down in one of those dresses. To me I also want to see her do other shows like Jil Sander, Marni and especially Calvin Klein. I can totally see her in campaigns but again, the race issue reoccurs every season... sigh.

Chanel looks super cute in Balenciaga.....Ghesquiere and M.A.S. must really like her......Congrats for Chanel's 4th season doing Balenciaga:woot: Who else??

Well, it is obvious that race has a lot to do with booking campaigns and even Jourdan who booked cK, only got one real shot. Models of color often struggle more even if the runway world has become more allowing of girls of color.

Chanel is one of the best girls on the runway because she has heir own style, an exquisite face that looks good with almost any design on, an attitude that carries on with her walk and legs that definitely go for miles. That's why she has done so well with her runway work.

Now, having said all that comes the fact that Chanel has been out there a bit longer than Sessilee, Jourdan, Rose, R'el and Lindsey to name a few. She has gotten really great editorials and her face always looks pristine and interesting even on that beauty shot for i-D where she was making a sour face like the other three girls. My problem is that in the last editorials, I've been lacking something. Not that I'm not satisfied with seeing her there. Her face is and always will be distinct and exotic. It's just that I've seen that same expression before on many editorials. I'm just waiting for an editorial or something that just blows me away, not because she is extremely beautiful but because the pose is interesting or the face expression is unexpected. At the end, it's about that unexpected je ne sais quoi. Again, I'm not saying that it's not the reason why she hasn't gotten any blue chip campaigns or work in other profiled fashion magazines. All I'm saying is that even if people see her as one of the best walkers out there no matter color, Sessilee and Jourdan more often bring that wow factor on print. I mean, it's no wonder that Sessilee is a Meisel fan even if she hasn't walked nearly as many shows as Chanel. And Jourdan is a whole class of her own and has reopened for models of color to walk many blue chip shows out there. I'm not saying that one is better than the other but rather that they all have their forte. Chanel rules the runways and I hope to see that for many seasons to come.

I'd love to see her do work for French Vogue but I'm realistic as well. I'm more than satisfied seeing her often on American Vogue and seeing her outdo herself as each fashion week passes by with her walk, attitude and her own self.

Yay for Balenciaga again! She's really attracting the people at Balenciaga, no? :shifty:

OMG Chanel looks absolutely stunning in Balenciaga. True supermodel, she can work anything. Hope to see her in person!

im happy she is still with Balenciaga
she would probably get the campaign too if
Meisel wasnt shooting it

Marcelle Bittar vai apresentar o Supermodel of the World com Chanel Iman

Dedos cruzados.

I can't wait to see Chanel! ;) goodluck on hosting! it's her 1st time hosting the event :) werkk! I hope she still walks for Sao Paulo Fashion Week

^^ Although I still think it's highly unlikely, it's also far from impossible that she was a campaign possibility (despite every hater in the book scoffing at the idea)...she has done all the last four shows and MAS likes her...I also thought Miranda was going to be in the campaign as she was selected exclusively by Ghesquiere so it's poss she could've also been turned down by Meisel, not to mention Lisanne being apparantly cut from the campaign (based off the ads so far).

However it doesn't make complete sense as Meisel booked Chanel for Anna Sui S/S 2010...and she's not a regular at this show every season. I'm done trying to assess the whole scenario it gives me a headache quite frankly . I love Meisel to death but his favouritism games go around and round and up and down.

I'd love to see Chanel work with Mert & Marcus (who I believe can really bring out an energetic, vibrant side to her) and Paolo Roversi this year...but any work is good work. I wonder what that post-VS Miami shoot was for?

This just in...Chanel Iman at Ford Supermodel Brasil! werkk ;) love that floral skirt!
