Chanel Pre-Fall 2026 New York

He is so not qualified for the job.. they shouldn't have to settle, it's beneath Chanel. There's nothing opulent or one-of-a-kind about it, a standard that Karl, with all the monstrosities he produced, still abided by. The models either look chubby, pedestrian or like they're heading to the most boring job in the world and opted for this but could've been Proenza, there's just something so fast fashion about it and putting it in a hideous station is not visually skyrocketing it, it almost makes sense..

and..

... just vile, almost on the same level of Virginie's white dress with the hoodie for the cruise show in Marseille..

Honestly? Unwatchable from what I'm seeing so far.
Again, another Bottega 2.0 revamp collection with CC logo accessories.
Even the quirky / cringe "Happy days" OST song...he's so stubborn and stuck with this idea of intellectual pretentious "elevated" fun, it's so annoying. Remember when they used the Beverly Hills 90210 OST melody for his latest Bottega campaign? His CHANEL so far it's basically reheated Bottega stale food.

Yea I saw that yellow-ish outfit and I wanted to throw up.

On the other hand, I saw one suit with fitted shoulders! They did listen to the customers and made a few in classic fit.

Honestly, the first scene is unsettling: no sensible person wears stilettos on the edge of the platform. This is city survival 101. Do his assistants not know? Post covid, no one does it any longer. this doesn't work in NYC now. Unrealistic.

Finally, it's a hodgepodge of stuff, and 90% of them don't look Chanel. Zara Collection will soon make copy cats with better quality at 1/100th of the price.

Under Virginie we had 6k sequined t-shirts and 5k glued sequins jeans, under MB we're getting a sequined "I LOVE NY" t-shirt for...10k? That's probably rock bottom reached and we're just at his second collection. Even Virginie with her Philipp Plein inspired LA cruise and hooligans Manchester show wouldn't even dared sending down the runway something so cheap and uninspired.

Come to think of it, the Calatrava space would be much better. It's airy and modern.
Even better, they could have done the show during commute hours but fencing off the middle runway somehow. It would fit. (I wonder if the cops dislike this plan?) the energy would have been much more alive rather than a dreadful abandoned station.
(But I learned that MB's aesthetics is different.)

Yeah, when I saw the invite was an old timey subway map I was hoping it would be in the old city hall stop. The tracks are functional and the trains can run through it so it would still look obviously NYC. Tom Ford already used the abandoned Bowery stop and it's the main one production companies use for movies and shows so it's not exactly a rare site.

okay... its a bit better than his debut but thats not saying much this doesn't feel like a Md'A show at all, everything is so pedestrian and lacking any product elevation. tbh this is preposterous, selling overpriced clothes and they dont even fit well or look good, he has the best ateliers at his disposal and the result is this?? at bottega this was passable, at Chanel it sounds insulting to the maison and the clients.

the premise of showing on the ny subway is interesting but the execution is meh, he could've delved deeper into the contrast of expensive exquisitely made clothes being worn in a very public and communal environment.

funnily enough the metro, as a place and image, sends a message of movement, democratization (in the sense that ppl of all classes utilise it and ocupy the same space, even if its for a brief moment), the urban space as something that enables the production of knowledge. the clothes send the opposite message: stiff and dumbed down completely disconnected from the space they are inserted into.

democratization is the only element that is there, it doesn't matter if you spend 5 figures on a chanel gown you will look as frumpy as someone who bought a zara dress at discount lol

Blazy needs to read this post :

I agree with Becheri, if I didn’t also strongly believe that marketing and merchandising teams are the ones killing creativity and fashion itself. They have far too much say, and they seem to genuinely believe they’re creative simply because they’re well trained in reading their Excel files. They keep pushing to include this type of jacket and that type of bag, and to make sure half of the looks are accessorized with often tacky but sellable bags. Fashion has started to please consumers and follow their consumption behavior, instead of asserting a strong vision that makes consumers want it.
And then it becomes all about showing the same looks and accessories on - fine, I can understand those - celebrities, and on a bunch of so-called content creators who often have no cultural background or creative vision that could speak on behalf of the brands. Ambassadors, my ***. Fashion has become far too democratic, and that’s why it has completely lost its vision and purpose.
That said, I agree the Chanel show needed editing, but I’ve seen inspiring clothes that I haven’t noticed in the last decade or two of Chanel shows. So I’m actually excited to see what Blazy presents next.

Virginie's latest collections were a real disaster, but when I think of a Métiers d’Art show, this little masterpiece comes to mind: Paris – Rue Cambon 2019/2020. A dream.

I haven’t had the chance to see all the looks from Métiers d’Art 2026 yet, and from the little I’ve seen I’m not overly enthusiastic. The collection seems aimed at a pop and youthful audience, far from what Virginie — and sometimes even Karl — were aiming for. It also appears to lack the artisanal craftsmanship that typically defines these collections, and what I’ve seen so far would perhaps be more fitting for a Cruise show, although this may have been influenced by the location and the city where the presentation took place.

Yes that yellowish stuff…That yellow Calvin Klein CK34569NY whatever store by Sterling Ruby ? 🤣 i feel like this whole NY thing is about Matthieu taking some pathetic revenge on Calvin Klein. Clownery.
