I didn't say anything about his private person—I'm not talking about biography. I'm talking about the work, and I'm interested in how it looks now from the perspective of the present. We now have the luxury of retrospection, so we can examine his whole career, or we can isolate specific moments or periods within his career. It's not at all as simple as being "what it is."

Would you say that to someone who was trying to curate a show representing Karl's career? A curator has to interpret and select, so as to convey a sense of narrative/movement/change in an artist or designer's work. They can't just fill a gallery with every single one of Picasso's Blue Period paintings (etc.) and say "it is what it is." That would be both banal and a logistical impossibility. They have to select and order material, and the same applies to Karl—now that he's dead we can sort through his whole career, micro and macro, to get a sense of his genuine contributions. That's essentially what was happening in the Costume Institute show; they had to present a coherent sense of his oeuvre in 150 pieces (including Fendi, etc). In doing so (and we could argue about whether they were successful or not), they necessarily presented an interpretation of Karl distinct from his own.
I have no interest in museum curation process i left uni years ago.
I am interested in how brands move forward with their codes and history /archives in mind to create beautiful interesting things .
I think your and more people for sure are not clear on what KL construction was or is i am not confused and in think more people also have same clear idea of his work etc .

But happy your digging to understand it for yourself &hope it becomes clear for you and others still in process of obtaining knowledge on him.

That button will always live in my head rent free

Just like the laughable rumors and threats of wealthy New Yorkers leaving the city if Mamdani became mayor, Chanel customers aren't going anywhere. There will inevitably be something of interest to purchase especially now that Blazy is slowly flooding the market with a multitude of choices collection by collection (logo or otherwise) for nearly any and all potential buyers. Chanel will always be Chanel.
I challenge this claim. The reason why they added all the classic looks is that people didn't buy his first runway collection. The SAs are very nervous. They are less commission based now so it doesn't hurt as much, but they don't like quiet and sad stores. They don't like clients texting them complaining all day long. They want their RTW clients to be happy.

So far the best offerings are old Chanel copy cats and BV with Chanel prices. People can easily go elsewhere.
The costume jewelry is terrible however, it feels very cheap and does not elevate the looks at all.
I actually think that the costume jewelry has improved quite a lot. the recent costume jewelry under VV is largely cheap stuff sold at $2k a piece. This runway actually offered more interesting pieces.

I will tell you the brutal reality: the whole New York thing is an excuse to hide the fact that they are in a panic because the debut show was hated so much by the customers. By making this a New York "theme", they can throw everything against the wall and see what sticks.

To be fair the set, location, and concept was already put into motion in July weeks before the debut show when the subway map teaser was released.

Yes. It's just less restricting than, say, Dakar, Hamburg, etc.
a couple of things in no particular order:

The real New York commuters:
sneakers, flats, black, denim, and more black. Everyone is in a rush as always! The energy is very different from the show. It's not a lingering place. It's a place where you dash to your next destination 24/7.
