Chanel S/S 2022 Paris

Glad to see she got some creativity and fun genes in her blood, but clothes are still ummmmmm, and her color tone is nowhere better, those CC logo pieces are cheap and pretentious compared with the most valuable 1995 spring collection which sold on crazy price on vintage market, clearly she knows that too

I thought it was cute! And it was nice seeing the models trying to be fun and show personality. Lola and a few others painful to watch though, but I guess it’s expected when they aren’t used to do show like this.

Everybody is cashing on their own nostalgia…

It’s maybe fun and all but that’s not it for me. I don’t see any vision or any fashion…Just a questionable rendition of the past.

I’m not nostalgic of early 90’s RTW Chanel. It was great era but in terms of design, I think the Couture was more exceptional and while I love it, I think it’s quite overrated compared to the 00’s or even the 80’s.

The thing about the whole 90’s craze was that their was a context to make it great. Seeing Claudia Schiffer in a tweed fitted tweed ensemble doesn’t have the same visual impact as seeing Vittoria in the same outfit…Even if I love Vittoria.

That being said, the opening look and the black tweed coat with satin lapels are fabulous. The coat is great enough for me to have it on my wishlist…

The hair and make up is great tho.

I’m waiting for Vuitton. Nicolas is the only one I’m waiting for tbh…

I like how you summarized the 90s style as "it works in the context" this is so accurate.
also every time when someone say : this is not chanel at all! this is not elegant! not dreamy!
I always feel it is so funny because I want to see the reaction of those ppl when they see the 90s chanel collections.

this collection is half quintessential Karl's Chanel, half quintessential Virginie chanel, in fact the very last floral part is purely her parade.

the makeup and hair are so Karl. the casting is nice. there is theme of show which is delivering.
at least this is entertaining like the chanel fashion used to be.

When I saw this collection I was instantly reminded of Karl. I understand it will take time for Virginia to create her own identity within Chanel realms but it’s been almost 3 years now!

A huge hit of a show for me. The set evoking Chanel during the 90s was fabulous, especially with the addition of the models twirling and showing us some personality, it all felt like a breath of fresh air despite harking back to the past.

My favourite looks from Chanel collections are always the tweed numbers, and this is no exception. The jacket, skirt and silk top on Rianne is just flawless. Everything just screams quintessential Chanel and I genuinely cannot hate on it. I'm now programmed to automatically rave over Chanel and I will be sure to spend some time zooming in on all the wonderful details (like the enlarged strap on the quilted handbags this season).

I don’t usually talk models, but I feel it’s important to mention here. Some of them shocked me at how they actually can model and sell the clothes that are essentially boring. But their personalities gave extra insight to what the clothes are meant to be about I suppose.

I hope designers, casting directors, and show producers start to take more into account what a brand is about and go forward accordingly.

I watched the video and It has a sincere and adorable spirit to find new energy without being pretentious.

definitely her best collection but the show despite aiming to be fun and cool was imo disastrous having the models literally queueing on the runway… also, most of these girls don’t have 1/3 of the allure of the 90’s models!

Virginie could’ve invited some of the supers to be there…

What we witnessed here was an unintelligent branding play. Yes the references were on point. The Chanel swimsuits will always be a classic and the camera pit on the sides of the runway is seeped in nostalgia blah blah blah. My interest in the brand is waning tremendously. Take away all the hoopla and you have very, very little to work with. Chanel in 2021 is a makeup and accessories brand. The clothing does not matter. There is nothing sophisticated or even remotely interesting about any of this work. Where is the respect for legacy, who will to further this great Parisian institution? Does Karl’s work mean nothing? Coco must be forgotten about? Très mauvais travail!

I don't know whether it's the cut, proportions or fabric choice, but her clothes always look sleazy, like cheap counterfeits of Karl's designs.
If she wanted to have girls twirling and flirting with the camera, hiring actual dancers would have been a better choice. Current models are as stiff as a board. Watching them try to emote anything gave me second-hand embarrassment.

I liked the SS20 Chanel runway show. I thought it was fun and classic. I saw new handbags, and timeless clothing trends. I liked the swimsuit on look number two. I think I could pull it off at almost 50 years old....lol....seems as it will hide the right places for me.... lol....

As far as Virginie Viard goes, I think she is doing a great job in the big shoes she’s expected to fill....like someone stated earlier in this thread, she is doing it “in an unpretentious way”..... I like that! As far as her collections go, the boutiques have been sold out like when Karl was in charge. There is an appetite for Virginie Viard’s creations and continuity. It’s great that Virginie had the opportunity to work closely with KL for more than 30 years, and that she is in a position to bring to us more of the Chanel chic style we love.
