Chanel S/S 2023 : Kristen Stewart by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin | the Fashion Spot

Chanel S/S 2023 : Kristen Stewart by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin

no, no, no, no. hell no.

no to everything: the vineyard setting (in this case at least), the pose, the facial expression the (unwashed looking) hair. sad.

Kristen Stewart, Alicia Vikander, and the newly Daisy Edgar Jones have the same magnetism and charisma (in photography that is), as a door.

Maybe it's just me, but I have honestly never seen an image of Kristen Stewart and thought "wow, I want to look like that!". She has zero star charisma for me and I think the length of her tenure as an ambassador for Chanel is pretty weird.
Testino did a good job with her for Vanity Fair and I like her cover for Interview Magazine 40th anniversary issue, that's it!

Unsalty, beige, bland, soulless, tofu, broccoli. Where's the drama? How much did this cost?

I don't blame her though. When there's no direction, what can you expect?

I believe the black and white image is not part of the official print campaign. A series of images with Kristen (like the one posted above shot in Paris) were released back in October 2022, as promotional photographs prior to the show.

More from the campaign:

The shot of her sitting is actually quite nice, the vineyard one of her standing shouldnt have been part of the campaign.

It'sI feel like they tried to go for a Karl Lagerfeld vibe, but it didn't work. The photography is too crisp and sharp. It needs a little bit of noise and blur. The composition also leaves a lot to be desired. Overall It's missing romance. I don't think Kristen is to blame, she can only do so much with what she's given, and she wasn't given much. I still can't believe this is by I&V.

Are these colorful ones taken by I&V...?!
I thought these are Juergen Teller's works...

Shot by Inez van Lamsweerde & Vinoodh Matadin, confirmed via Chanel's website. It also appears the black and white imagery initially released back in October 2022 are also part of the official advertising campaign.

Gotta say, after seeing the new B&W ads I´m falling for this campaign and Kristen... this might be her best campaign to date imo.

For some reason, the last shot makes me think of the campaigns Karl shot in Biarritz for SS2002 and SS2003.
