Chanel S/S 2026 Paris

Do we have detailed shots of the bags? Did someone post that and I missed it? I could barely see the bags in the show video. I just seen a bunch of, what looked like, flipped open double flaps....were my eyes deceiving me?

I believe Vogue Runway has detail shots of the collection.

You would probably never have a 100% Chanel show. Karl made people believe but some collections were sometimes 10% Chanel. It was just hidden in the profusion of tweed.

Next show: Metiers d’Arts in December.
Karl was so good at it huh! Saleing us his ideas through chanel tweed, god i miss him. He would hate this new show by the way.

He is my favorite designer ever, my hero but I wouldn’t be presumptuous enough to say that.
As he said so well: never compare, never compete.

Chanel would have hated what Karl did for Chanel, he was totally aware of that. So I will give Matthieu grace and assume that Karl would have done the same.

I was not feeling this collection at all upon first seeing it. To preface, I am a Karl and Hedi lover. But after spending a few days with it, and reading all of the comments on this forum, I've come to like it. I'm not in love with it but I like it. It's a nice introduction to Blazy's world for Chanel -- I see glimpses of his past at Margiela, Celine, CK, and Bottega. Those past brands could represent the planet shapes in the show; he's landed on Planet Chanel now. I see pieces for almost every type of Chanel woman and age bracket. I think Blazy's work is best when he focuses on a more slender/slim silhouette rather than boxy tbh. I am not a woman so it's not for me at the end of the day, but I wouldn't mind seeing my girl friends, professional peers, and my mom/aunt wearing some of these looks - such as the knit Chanel jackets/skirt sets, the silk-looking vneck and skirt set, and this look too (whoever that model is is perfect for Chanel). I know it's not worth it to bring up Karl's muses but I really could see Amanda Sanchez, Stella Tennant (may she rest in peace), and Freja in these looks.

It's not revolutionary but I think it will be a nice slow burn. I think Chanel is going to take the Nicolas Ghesquiere for LV philosophy with MB -- establish the shapes, -isms, woman -- for the first few collections then slowly introduce themes going forward. Not to bring him up again but I hated (and still don't love) Hedi's debut for Celine but loved his world by the end of his tenure.

Oh yes coco would have been pissed. 🤣🤣 yes Matthieu will come together because he has to, but one thing for sure is that , with all the modern talk and the talk of modernity , he will eventually fall back in line to chanel , house codes. Just like karl did.

Coco would explode like a german bomb if she saw Karl's work. Jeans and mini skirts disgusted her so one can imagine her reaction.

Karl would be happy to see people move on. He wasn't nostalgic and focused on the future. He liked Marine Serre, so why wouldn't he like Blazy.

She would be happy with the dresses I think. They were the highlight of the show imho.

A dear friend of mine said that fashion hasn't moved on since this SS2018 Céline show and I totally agree.

All Matthieu has done since he is a CD is "copying" this show...

I don't get why someone would be so widely praised for that. It's beyond my mind.
First, thank you for the @s about the BV-Chanel side by sides. I appreciate it.

Personally, I’ve never followed Bottega very much, I wouldn’t have remembered these looks myself. This Chanel debut is the most attention I’ve ever paid to MB. 2018 Celine is also far enough many besides me probably don’t recall it in detail.

So to perhaps answer ur question. I think many see a bit of this-and-that but a new presentation for a different house a year or years later still feels fresh and wondrous, especially when you’re watching it live, in the rush of seeing detail shots be uploaded to Vogue or backstage pics on the Impression. I’m active on “fashion twitter” & speaking firsthand I think many fashion hobbyists & even professionals are authentically swept up in the swell of fashion weeks and not intentionally “overhyping.” People who were very fond of his Bottega are probably also less critical about seeing some of it again- and to be fair in my opinion a few of the comparisons are “loose” and not super obvious copies. He was also only at BV for 4 years I think? So some of these elements he’s probably trying to make “his thing”, which I can understand. If he’s still doing fuzzy hats in 10 years, it’ll stop being “a BV knockoff.”

But in fashion of the past 10 years, people are used to repetition, commercialism, etc. They’ll have a higher tolerance for it and even sometimes an appreciation of it. MB also has the benefit of coming after VV lol. And yes Awar helped, Ayo helps, Margot, Nicole, the set, and the built up suspense. All of that is just part of the industry these days though. It’s not a special manipulation tactic sourced directly from his deviousness.

I understand ur criticisms tho but like Lola said, people loving and praising what you wouldn’t is not always nefarious. Millions of people get genuinely excited to grab Chipotle after work, and it’s not like that’s gourmet, you know?🤷🏾‍♀️In fact, he has a third the ig followers they do lol😹

Yes, my problem is never enjoying or liking it. As I said, I liked bad shows in the past, I liked some shows that are mediocre… but that’s liking and enjoying, something different to something being good, original, modern and complete.

In some BV threads from the past I always said this guy, even if he is too influenced by Phoebe, has something, he does some style tricks that are interesting and so on. But that doesn’t make him great. And this collection is not what people are praising it to be.

What I hate is people not being objective. The fuss around it all is ridiculous at this point. He had better collections at BV and nobody reacted 1/7 of what we’ve seen.

And yeah, I understand it’s Chanel, it’s a very expected show (I was there and omg, never felt that energy in my life, it was really exciting, everyone was very excited even before it started).

Buuuut the collection itself is meh. It has many flops. Its not round enough. Which is ok, its his first one and I understand it.

The thing is that people (journalists) are kinda pretending that it’s better than it is. And I’m baffled because he had much better collections at BV that never got this kind of fuss. So my point is that fashion people are just a joke that jump in the bandwagon and have 0 integrity.

If they say, well it was a decent start, and I loved the atmosphere so that made me enjoy the collectio a lot, that’s one thing. Saying that MB has saved Chanel like if he was a genius. that it was an amazing collection, blablahblah is just a lie.

I do think he made Chanel relevant again tho.

I agree, but is there such thing as objective journalism, especially when it's fashion or art related? It will always be subjective. The power dynamic has also changed. It's almost surreal when you think how much influence they used to have.

That being said, I wouldn't mind if there was someone with a more critical eye, who is also not obsessed with one designer or paid by another.

I agree with all of this, or at least most if it. IMO what Blazy needs to do now, if he's going to maintain his reputation as someone who is focused on craft, is subordinate himself to some extent to the artisans in the atelier. Obviously not in a manner that cedes creative control, but so he can inhabit their capacities in a more organic or intuitive way. Some of the "Chanel-isms" here—so to speak—seem externally applied or additive, which makes them clash with the elements that are a holdover from his time at Bottega.

Yeah, I understand & agree. Like fashion itself, journalism has become verrry tied to social media culture and advertising and the bandwagoning is probably one of the main downsides. I guess I’m just not sure what’s literal selling out and sucking up vs just bad memory, short attention span, favoritism, low(or different) standards and the nature/culture of certain platforms or outlets themselves.

I saw the show 2x, the only memorable part was Awar's smile and twirl. While some of the 1930s style long line assymetrical dresses were nice , Albaz did this so much better. The tweed section /skirt suits were shapeless and unflattering , the oversized Charvets looked puerile. It was way more BV and not really Chanel. While the optics were better than Dior's , Anderson's execution and focus was far sharper. Fall will be the true test.

Blazy is too intellectual. Remember what Karl said?

Why was he so magnetic? I’m hypnotized by his voice. And the cute “ahhhh”

I wonder who was in his mind. Raf? 👀 I think he’s the most try hard intellectual. Reading his Dior press notes every season was my biggest nightmare.

And the ones saying it's MODERN! guys, Phoebe was doing the SAME (but way better) 7 years ago, which is almost a DECADE ago.
The irony of it all is THE REAL Coco Chanel of the 21th century is Phoebe Philo
