"I was asked to be the Mistress of Ceremonies at the closing of the Cannes Film Festival in May. When you're the mistress of ceremonies, they really treat you royally, so my eldest son, Barnaby [29], and my stepdaughter, Emilie [26], and my son, David [24], lived like little princes. It was lovely to give them this experience - they're not blase at all. Here they are, feeling quite chuffed about the whole thing."

"I can tell you exactly how I know this is Cannes last year: I was wearing a jacket that someone had lent to me. It's Yohji Yamamoto - you see how nicely it goes with a long skirt"

"I had never won a prize for my film work before, when the french gave me a cesar in february, I was really very pleased. You don't think it's going to be so moving, but it is in the end. The dress, by the way, is Yamamoto again."

"Yamamoto is absolutely my favourite designer. I'm quite nervous about dressing up. When it gets right down to it, I would rather be in a man's suit."
