Cheryl Cole

Love that Look on her. Fresh, young, elegant, chic and always so stylish.
And finally something different.

It was imo the way she dealt with her husbands infidelity and she changed to the nations sweet heart on Xfactor, I don't think it had a lot to do with the clothes, they just changed her image from the Cheryl Tweedy, girl who smashed a toilet attendants face in to Cheryl Cole who's husband cheated on her and she went through the whole ordeal with a HUGE amount of dignity..

In my eyes that's how she really changed, not just in clothes, hair and make up, how the Daily Mail would have you believe it, but she changed as a person and it showed and she totally deserves all the success she has received.

^You have a good point, her image really did change. But to me going through difficult times doesn't necessarily turns you into a better person... We all go through ordeals and pain, don't we? Some people do change for the best - you can become less selfish, less materialistic, kinder and wiser - but some don't. Obviously I don't know if she changed for the best or not, noone can tell.

Anyway, people surely felt sorry for her - the gorgeous girl who's cheated on by her husband. But I also remember reading comments such as "how stupid can he be, cheating on her when she's so pretty, and with an uglier girl" and this shocked me because it wasnt the point, nobody "deserves" to be cheated on not matter what they look like. It really sounded like it would have been forgivable if the girl had been prettier.

I know what you mean, I read comments like that too, and I thought that was pretty shocking as well. And yes you're right we all do go through difficult times, I just think in her case it was her silence and dignity that really changed the publics opinion on her. Not clothes etc like some have said.

It is prob a combination of the two, but I don't think she's become more famous through pity. The general public is very shallow, not to mention very fickle.

I didn't mean to imply that the public loved her purely because she changed her look. I'm saying, and this is just my opinion, that the press and public would not have built up this persona as "the nation's sweetheart", and would have also been a lot less sympathetic about the Ashley thing, if she looked the way she did when Girls Aloud first came out.

I think the last outfit is rather dreadful. :ninja:
I know what you mean, I wasn't keen on it initially but quite like it now. I'm not keen on the fit of the trousers/the belt, but love the top and the flowing style of her trousers. I also quite like the colours.

Yes Lady Flash I gathered you didn't think it was purely because of her look, it's definitely a combination of everything that led to her success, and you're right it's also true it's very doubtful she would have received such success when she was originally in girls aloud, because let's be honest her original image didn't exactly scream the nations sweet heart :).

While we're on the topic of how Cheryl used to look... I just saw this picture of Girls Aloud on ONTD and I actually had to look carefully to figure out Cheryl:

What a difference having a professional team of stylists makes.

And that second picture's a few years old. In a more recent one she'd look even more polished. Every member of GA has transformed so much over the years, it's seriously impressive.

They´ve all changed so much. Just look at Nadine. And who doesn´t change in 7 years? The second pic is from 2006.

With perception of Cheryl as nations sweetheart I agree with almost everything what shuffle wrote.:flower:

Of course they are going to transform, style changes, body shape, posing (they found their ANGLES! :woot:)

There are tonnes of examples of how much they have changed, but it's inevitable change. They are super polished now!

Yeah, I tried finding more recent pictures but they were all very small.

Here is one from the Out of Control promo:

I think it's also confidence. They know they look good now and their poses and facial expressions reflect that. And they're also now one of the most successful music groups whereas before they were still branded just a product of reality tv.
