^Doesn't she have a stylist, though? That's why it annoys me when the British tabloids call her a style icon.
I think she doesn´t have one when she´s on her own. But Girls Aloud as a group have a stylist.

Shocked that she's getting so papped in El-Lay!

Yes, she has a stylist. She's Britain's biggest star atm. It's apparent... although her stylist might need replacing.

i did read she has a stylist but she does enjoy shopping on net-a-porter , i do like her 'style' because we cant call her a style icon because she has a stylist , i loved her in that vuitton skirt from spring summer 2009 though

She is certainly NOT a fashion icon. People throw that term around much too freely.
Yes, but think of the context: British tabloids. They are not too familiar with what is stylish. They see Cheryl Cole as one because she managed to clean up her image, which is quite the contrast to what it was a few years back (before the Ashley Cole scandal).

Calling her a 'style icon' is a bit much tbh, as she's far from it, but we gotta remember that Girls Aloud are 'style icons' to a lot of young kids.:D

Loving the yellow Milly dress, not sure about the thin belt though...
She definitely isn't a style icon, she just wears nice clothes from time to time, that's all.

Surely a style icon is someone who influences people's style? Whether they have a stylist or not. Lots of women in Britain try to emulate her.

You see, I really don't like the word icon. I can't actually think of anyone I would call an icon. There are people who influence my style, some more so than others, but I wouldn't call any of them icons. I think for someone to be an icon they need to be on a mantle of their own and almost without comparison and I honestly can't think of anyone who falls into that category. I feel quite stupid saying that on a fashion forum, but there you go!

I don't think it is as simple as just influencing someone's style as pretty much anyone in the public eye influences people style-wise which would mean literally every celeb ever is a style icon.

I definitely agree, she's not a fashion icon imo at the moment. She influences a lot of people, but she's been doing it for almost a year now properly with 'her' fashion, for her to be an 'fashion icon' in my mind she has to have been influencing people as a icon for many, MANY years. Such as Kate Moss for example.
Please don't lynch me for using her as an example ^_^ But imo she is a fashion icon.
