Yea it's funny, like in the last year Oak street has completely shifted around
 
^No, it didn't open today :/ Supposedly it's opening soon though and will be announced on marcjacobs.com
 
Ugh :doh: I was planning to go this weekend, too. How annoying. Thanks, though.

Edit: Metromix says it's opening January 17th, for those who didn't know (like myself!)

Ok so, last week the article on chicago.metromix.com, it said the Marc by Marc store is opening on Jan 17 but now they edited the article and it says it opened 2 days ago!!

Vegas has one, L.A. has two, New York City has three on Bleeker Street alone -- now Chicago has its very own Marc Jacobs boutique (Don't even get us started about the fact that Savannah, GA, got one before we did). After several delays, the store opened to the public Jan. 15. To be technical, it actually houses the Marc by Marc Jacobs line, a subset of the main brand.


so it is open already? did any of you go? this is too confusing. :huh:

They obviously kept a low profile because I haven't heard anything about the store opening until I came to this thread! :judge: I was going to go after work, but the weather's supposed to get pretty bad tonight. So I'm going to wait until the weekend.
 
^how bad is the weather? is it still snowing, and is that enough to keep you away from MJ? :) i wish it had been opened when i was there in October, we dont' have one in Sydney.
 
Yeah I was going to go after class but it was freezing and reallyyyy icy outside! I will be going tommorow though and I will report back!


Oh and I just called and the guy verified that they opened Tuesday! I'm angry I didn't know! He said they are open 11am - 7pm tommorow and 11am- 8pm on Saturday.

Insane! My friend said there was a huge ad in either the Reader or the Red Eye, can't remember which.. but yes, the wind is just too insane for me to want to head over there. I barely even want to leave my room to go to class!
 
Well lets see.. the windows of the store doesn't have any mannequins just huge posters of different naked celebrities for the melanoma charity and inside the store they have a bunch of those tshirts to buy for $35, and the proceeds go to the charity. The store is fairly large. When you first walk in there are these gigantic tins with a bunch of cheap accesories... $5 plastic rhinestone rings, keychains, lipstick pens, mirror compacts, $15 tote bags. Then against the walls are $35 special edition tshirts with the names of cities marc has stores in (they had paris, chicago, shanghai, etc etc). And against that same wall they have a ton of different marc by marc handbags. OHH and they have cute umbrellas with different prints for $16 and it says marc by marc on them. Then in the back is the section with the more expensive marc by marc girls and guys clothes. Then they have the shoe section which also had the m by mj vans (just 3 different pairs, ehh). Oh and around the counters/registers in the middle of the store they have the a ton of watches, jewelry, hair barrettes, etc in the glass cases... And also the marc jacobs book and that new marc jacobs documentary DVD by the registers as well.

Yeah you guys should definitely go! It wasn't too crowded and all the people who worked there were really nice and helpful!


edit: I forgot to mention that they also had a few Marc Jacobs collection purses there.

Well it's been freezing since the last time I posted, and we're on a wind chill advisory until today. As much as I've been anticipating the MJ store, I didn't think it was worth it. It'll still be there when it's a little warmer. ;)

Thanks for the review, FashionRoyalty! It doesn't sound like we missed a lot and I'm going to try to head over there tomorrow. ^_^

well, we're in the middle of summer in Sydney but it has been raining for like a week, the weather is horrible, there's insane amounts of flooding and it's very windy, this isn't summer...

one of my friends is moving to Chicago for 10 months! i am so jealous!! i'll have to tell her about the store, which store sounds great actually, i didn't think they'd make it so affordable.. thanks for the details :)
 
^ It means that the wind chill could be life threatening if action isn't taken, especially since we had single-digit temperatures. We were under the advisory for the last few days and it just ended yesterday.

It's still quite cold here but I think that I'm going to go to the MJ store sometime this week. I'm sure it'll be a lot of fun! :brows:

Do they sell the $30 woman's thermals in the Chicago store? I bought one in Boston and they are the most comfortable thing ever!
