I absolutely  this collection, and since some of the older Chloe collections are being posted, here it is....

Designer of the Year 2000 Stella McCartney certainly did not disappoint her legions of fabulous young fans who rely on Chloé for the season's hot new trends. But this season, in addition to delivering sexy new T-shirts and plunging bathing suits (with playful pineapple motifs), McCartney explored grown-up territory. Perhaps drawing inspiration from Schiaparelli's inventive chic, McCartney worked graphic horse prints (borrowed from Stubbs and Géricault) into loosely structured diagonal-seam dresses and beautiful jackets with a softly draped triangle shoulder. Skirts were long and relaxed, perfect when paired with lightweight, flouncy off-the shoulder tops. Wide-brim hats and dainty pillboxes with a tulle overlay gave the look a touch of '30s sophistication. More casual pieces included sexy jeans with zipper pockets and metallic horses galloping along the backside, and a T-shirt with strategically placed banana appliqués in the front and the words "Keep your bananas off my melons" in the back.

This was a very strong collection for McCartney, and one that confirms her considerable talent and potential as a major designer.

This, to me, was such a definitive Chloe collection. I remember being 15 years old and wanting nothing more than a pair of jeans with a studded horse on the leg. In fact, I went and bought a bedazzler and attempted a DIY version, but it was a disaster.

She loses me in the middle with her suiting, but I remember the cheekiness of the screen-print images being very shocking/cool, and all over movie/pop stars.

i still wish i had something from that collection, after all those years. I love it!!

ITA.

8 years later and it still looks chic, interesting and above all, cool. I'd venture to say that it's Stella's best work.

I was reading Cathy Horyn's review of the collection and it pointed out how pineapples are used as a symbol of welcoming, like on doorknockers and hanging shop signs. Obviously I didn't get that when the collection first came out, but it gives those bathing suits a whole other level of cheekiness once it's been pointed out, and knowing McCartney it was entirely intentional.

I have to say, there is something I like about the suiting. It has this late 30's Adrian meets Bianca Jagger vibe to it. But yeah, the looks in post #5 are definitely overshadowed by everything else.

Another favorite collection of mine was (I think) the season right before this... There was a very skimpy halter top made of chains, a diamante-trim silk jumpsuit, and this wicked tee-shirt with the skull of the playboy bunny. I remember reading an article at the time saying how Playboy sued and she had to pull the shirt from her shops.. I went and remade that shirt as well.

Damn, Stella was the ****.

^ That was S/S 00. There were so many trashy-chic things in that collection

i remember this!!

Stella for Chloe was FA-bulous

i look back at this sexy, glam collection and at the frumpy crap we have now...

geez.
