Christian Dior Pre-Fall 2026 Paris

The really fustrating about the collection (and his debut) is that he has a lot of great ideas, but the execution is always really clumsy. It's like he designs everything in 2D, without thinking about how it behaves on the body. The drapey denim skirts are tripping hazards for no reason, the "sculptural" evening dresses have a lot of bulk around the waistline, the bias cut dresses looks sloppy. On the flipside, MGC had one idea that was done extremely well.

If this were a collection for Loewe or his namesake I’d have a different tune to it. A lot works here ideas wise, but it’s misplaced at a house like Dior.

Is he potentially gunning for LV, despite only just begun at Dior? Seems odd to do that, there’s a lot of NG tropes that he explores at LV. Delphine has her work cut out to make this appealing.

I understand that the idea of Dior with its nipped waist and frivolity can seem a little archaic in this day and age, just don’t make it so slouched and frumpy. There’s just no definition or care put to the silhouette to have it honestly flatter the body. Alas, the juvenile look of the models is of no help (thanks MGC and JW for your obsession with constant foetal youth) but put it on a mature client or body and it’s a disaster. What are we going to do with you JW, what are we going to do…

On a basic garment level (except some hoodies and jeans) I find this quite nice. There’s really nice ideas here, but it so lacks in refinement. In many ways I see a similar problem as with blazy’s chanel. It’s this limp presentation. These girls hanging out, dragging everything dooooown. I know he’s looking for tension and contrast, and with the overt sweetness of these looks I get that. But man if he’d only edit, sharpen and present in a slightly more elevated way it would immediately breath. I just hear him saying “we gotta add a hoodie here because it’s too pretty and sweet”. I find it a cop out.

Honest question: has anyone seen his sketches somewhere?

I actually think that he works on the body and mannequin directly and that maybe sketches are done after. Or discussions, ideas, collages, samples of fabrics or details and then sketch to have the concept locked.
I don’t think his design process is that instinctive and comes from a sketch.

Then Benjamin Bruno may help to edit the whole thing and then style.

The styling may look chaotic but there are really small variations on ideas or details.

I wouldn’t even be surprised to learn that they design by categories and not silhouettes.
