For his first pre-fall collection, Christopher Kane was in a dark, but still playful, mood. He worked in a palette of black, gray, deep purple and cobalt blue, tossing some natural prints into the mix. There were sumptuous leather shifts with frogging details, sculptural velvet cocktail dresses and other velvet numbers covered in Day-Glo flower prints. A slightly sinister black-and-white jaguar print was worked on goatskin and leather shirts and coats. “I’m carrying on the successful shapes from past seasons, and showing prints from previous seasons that have never been used,” said Kane, who added that part of his inspiration came from Hammer horror films. To wit, a T-shirt was printed with an oversize Dracula face and a skirt was dotted with bits of unwoven jacquard, recalling the bites and scratches of a werewolf.

I'd have that same expression wearing these clothes, quite the let down after his excellent Spring collection...this looks like a Versus collection gone horribly dated.

^I was thinking the same. The model's grossed out expression was all I cold focus on when scrolling through this for the first time. And then I kind of understood her.
Most of this is so awful, this look is so cheap and unflattering, this one just makes no sense at all, and this one is just one hell of a nightmare. I often have a hard time appreciating Kane's designs because most of what he does is just not my cup of tea at all, but I at least find his collections to be mostly coherent and interesting. This one is just really, really bad.

This is all kinds of awful. What on earth was he thinking?

The first few looks are actually very beautiful!

I see now why PPR wants to invest in his brand.

I like some of it - some of the plain black pieces, esp - but I dislike other aspects, like the leopard print. :/

The absolutely best leopard print I've seen in a long while was in Thakoon's pre-fall 2013 Addition line. Great take!

I can't really explain it, but this collection just feels like a barren wasteland to me. It feels like there's no life to it.

I feel like the first looks were much more Christopher Kane than the last... It's not the best! Oh Christopher I'm always rooting for you!

This collection makes no sense to me. It feels like the zipper on that floral floor length dress was placed there just for the hell of it.

I'm a big fan of half the collection, the velvet and the sheer is lovely. The rest is pretty awful though
