I never said I was an expert it's just my opinion. I am allowed an opinion, aren't I? I don't feel that I should have to say IMO every single time I express one. All I was getting at is that I can relate to what she said in the article.

I'm a little disappointed. I was hoping you had some good pictures of her to share.

Nice model , me remember she are thw model of Gucci 1995 who have scans of she?? plesseeeeeeeeeeeeee

I agree with you Luna. Whatever ethnicity she feels she relates to is beside the point. I mean then we'd be classing Eminem as black and girls who bleach their dark skin as white. To me she is mixed, essentially a white girl with black blood because there is definately a dominance of one over the other. Not that it matters because she is gorgeous no matter how l;ight or dark she was. Beauty is in features and bones.

Wow! Is that possible? I mean if both my parents were black, surely I'd be as black as them. Caribbean is not an ethnicity -she must have some mixed blood somewhere down the line? Can anyone clear this up?
She is what is called a 'Chabine' in the French Caribbeans dialect (Créole). That designate Black native girls with fair skin.
Both Guadeloupe and Martinique have a long history of Colonialism and slavery. Her name is French because French colons used to give their name to their slaves (as it happened in the US I believe). On occasion they would give much more than a name... It's 100% sure she does have French White blood, like most 'Chabins'.
So basically she is right to say she is Black and you're right to say she has White blood.
And thanks a lot for this thread. I didn't know her I that was obviously my loss. :flower:

I wish. I think the only way would be to get hold of some 90s Vogues because there is nothing online. It is sad.

this is crazy. i am west indian. most west indians are mixed with something, jsut leik most afro-americans. if not, we would all look liek africans.. being mixed is a cultural experience--- or we woudl call all hispanics, filipinos, etc mixed. they are not. they are where they are from. honestly, for all we know her families aren;t even that light, she happens to be one of the lighter ones.. two brown eyed parents can produce a blue-eyed child. recessive jeans will pop up from tiem to time. i think we shgoudl focus on her awesome work she left behind... i wonoder if she is all grown up with kids now....

yeah she's alot older now..im trying to remember where i saw recent pictures of her.

i jsut saw soem teen y ones on wire image but hey wer eso small. if anyone has a membership. its wiht her and catherine malandrino frm feb 2006

supposedly she and Catherine Malandrino are good friends...

i think sh eis a journalist now-- like she wanted to be before, cuz i saw no pics of her on a runway.... and she stopped wearing make-up too.
