Cindy Crawford

I love make up, she looks amazing, beautiful photos, thanks Tarsha

last night i was at this hilarious party at a bar here in Vancouver called "The Cobalt". real dive bar. but they had an "Electric Circus" theme last night. all these dance hits from the 90s. and it was packed. and on the stage was a MASSIVE screen and then there were maybe 5 other, smaller, ones as well. anyway - on the screens, they were playing Cindy Crawford's workout videos from the 90s. and people were LOVING IT. so retro. but she was just SO HUGE at the time. and so insanely hot. every single person there knew who she was and remembered how popular she was. THAT is a SUPERMODEL. point blank.
Ha! Cool story. :D

Cindy Crawford Talks Beauty Secrets, Pittsburgh With WPXI

PITTSBURGH -- Supermodel Cindy Crawford stopped in Pittsburgh on Friday to launch her furniture collection, Cindy Crawford Home, at the Levin Furniture store in Monroeville. I had the chance to sit down with the fashion and style icon for a one-on-one interview.

Jessica: What inspired you to get into the furniture design business?

Cindy:
Well as a model and someone who traveled a lot I think my home was my sanctuary. I always spent a lot of time and care creating this environment for myself and now that I’m a wife and a mother I spend even more time and more care with my home. One of the houses where we were living at the time was featured in Elle Décor magazine and I was approached by Rooms To Go to do Cindy Crawford Home, which is the furniture line. And at first I was like, it’s kind of weird. People had asked me to do hair and makeup and clothing but at the same time I felt like style is style and I could take what I learned from the world of fashion and translate that into my picture of lifestyle and of home.
Jessica: What makes your furniture collection different from the others available to consumers today?

Cindy:
The main thing we try to focus on is style value. And I know that’s not totally unique but that’s first and foremost. We look at what people want, what’s trending, what we think is right for the brand and then try to do that at an affordable price. I love leather, we use a lot of leather and I love microfiber because it looks great but it’s also really easy to clean. I’m always really concerned about the hand. How do things feel? And just the aesthetics. So if you like that at least come in and check out Cindy Crawford Home.
Jessica: In your travels all over that world, have you ever been to Pittsburgh before this visit? Cindy: This is my first trip to Pittsburgh.
Jessica: You got to see a little bit of the city today so tell me about what you were able to do.
Cindy:
We arrived late last night so we pretty much just got to the hotel and got up early this morning and did some radio interviews. I said “Go Steelers” a couple of times and that went over really well. And then we went to the Children’s Hospital here which is really incredible. Probably not on everyone’s sightseeing tours but it really should be it’s an incredible, state of the art Children’s Hospital. It was such a great thing to be able to do. I lost a brother to leukemia when he was a boy and I was a young girl so that’s kind of a pet charity of mine so I was happy to be there to see the hospital but also to present a check for $20,000 on behalf of Levin and myself. Jessica: This month you’re on the cover of Vogue Mexico looking stunning. What is your secret to staying young and beautiful?
Cindy:
Look, there’s no secrets. I’m 45. I do what I can. I exercise and I eat pretty good most of the time. I take care of my skin. I always say the secret is there is no secret. It’s just doing it. It’s wearing a hat. It’s not smoking. It’s trying to get enough sleep. It’s drinking enough water. All of those things go a long way over time.
Jessica: What do you think is the biggest difference between modeling today and modeling in the 80’s and 90’s?
Cindy: I think modeling is modeling, and being in front of the camera. But I’d say the biggest difference in terms of possibility is there’s less opportunity for a girl who’s just a model now. It seems like all of the big cosmetic ads and big designer ads, it’s usually young actresses who are beautiful but in the past they didn’t want to model. Young models ask me, what should I do, and I say you should take acting lessons or singing lessons. Jessica: What about body image? Do you think it’s different now, too?
Cindy:
If you look at Marilyn Monroe’s body who was considered the ideal of beauty at one point and then it went to Twiggy. And then it was more like Cheryl Tiegs, Christie Brinkley and I was just right after that. We were allowed to be more athletic. You could be a size 6. Then it was Kate Moss and grunge and now it’s this super, super, super skinny. I’m just thankful it wasn’t like that when I was modeling because I probably would not have made it.
Jessica: You’ve gotten to wear and model clothes by so many different sought after fashion designers. Tell me who some of your favorites are and maybe some that you have in your closet that you like to wear on a daily basis.

Cindy:
Well, I live in Malibu on the beach so most days I’m in jeans and some kind of a little top. But I love Cavalli. I’m a big fan of Roberto Cavalli. He loves women and I love the colors and his clothes are sexy and happy. I like Alexander Wang, a young designer. I like Helmut Lang. It just really depends. I can pretty much find something from every designer that I like and I think the fun part for me about fashion is mixing it up and make it your own.
Jessica: With Mother’s Day right around the corner, what advice do you have for working moms? How do you deal with the challenges of being a working mom?

Cindy:
The way that I am able to kind of manage my life is by being really organized. I’m very punctual and I’m pretty organized so I know how long things are going to take. I allow the time to take them. And I’ve learned to also say no to certain things. I can’t do everything all the time. Jessica: It seems like you’re always working on a new project. What do you have in the works for the future?
Cindy:
Right now I’m focused on making the business that I’m already in as good as they can be. And that includes my skin care line, Meaningful Beauty, which we’ve been doing for 7 years now and it’s really hitting its stride and growing. And there’s still a lot of room to grow in the home area. Because besides doing Cindy Crawford Home with Levin here, I also have a top of bed and table top at JC Penney. So I’m not really looking to add new things right now. But it’s just kind of to flush those out.

She'll be in a new documentary by Ricki Lake about home births

While in New York to host a benefit for Choices in Childbirth, Lake spoke about her upcoming documentary, More Business of Being Born, which will premiere this fall. It's a follow up to her 2007 film The Business of Being Born, and this time she'll focus on celebrity moms, such as Cindy Crawford, Alanis Morissette and Gisele Bundchen , who share their stories about giving birth.
