WITH the bitchy world of modelling now behind her, Cindy Crawford has worked hard to earn the time to put her feet up and - like her Sydney visit this week - chill out with good friends.

But it's her lucrative 11-year relationship with Omega watches that has brought the 41-year-old supermodel to Sydney and freed up the precious hours she's enjoyed with former catwalk cohort and Tamarama local Gail Elliot this week.

Not just a pretty face for the watch brand, Crawford has worked her day job spruiking the brand she has just begun designing fine jewellery for around some downtime with her gal pal.

Crawford told Confidential it's a friendship - albeit long-distance - that helped both survive the "superficial'' fashion industry - and a few husbands in between.

While both sparkled at the glittering VIP party to open Omega's first store in Australia last night, the glamour girls have seen each other through the good, bad and (if it's possible) ugly.

"We've been friends for 20 years. I met Gail when I started modelling at some show and we've been through a few marriages, my children, her moving here and starting her own business and supporting each other in life as friends do.''

While Elliot visits the mother of two's Malibu home each year en route to her own house in the Hamptons, New York, Crawford took in a tour of her friend's beachside home for the first time on Tuesday.

There was also a stopover for some shopping at Elliot's Little Joe store in The Strand Arcade, lunch at Catalina's Rose Bay and then a low-key dinner at North Bondi Italian restaurant.

Crawford turns heads

SHE'S got a body most women half her age would die for - and she's a 41-year-old mother of two. Doesn't seem fair, right?

Well, Cindy Crawford was at it again as she flew into Sydney from Los Angeles yesterday, making every woman in sight green with envy.

But predictably, the supermodel say it's only now that she's become more comfortable in her skin.

"I think I am happier with my body now because I am less judgmental of all women now, including myself," Crawford said.

"I have more self-confidence.

"Also, I appreciate my body for all that it's done. Most importantly, giving birth to two children."

Crawford arrived in Sydney ahead of a two-day visit as the face of Omega watches.

She said she was not surprised that the original supermodels, including Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer and Naomi Campbell were still in demand.

"I don't think that we ever really went too far away," Crawford said.

"The nature of fashion is that it is always changing, but at the same time I think women like to see our familiar faces."

CINDY Crawford might have had the proportions to earn her the title as one of the original supermodels in her 20s.

But the mother-of-two, who arrived in Sydney today, says at 41 she has never been happier with her body.

"I think I am happier with my body now because I am less judgmental of all women now, including myself," Mrs Crawford told The Daily Telegraph.

"I have more self confidence.

"Also I appreciate my body for all that it's done. Most importantly giving birth to two children."

In these days of super-skinny models and fahsion mags obsessed with weight loss are her words wisdom? Or is she simply wrong? Tell us at our blog.

The supermodel jetted in to Sydney early this morning for a two-day visit to the city.

Crawford, who is an ambassador for luxury watch and jewellery label Omega, is here to open the luxury Omega store in Castlereagh St on Wednesday.

She will also play host at a black tie party for Omega in an especially erected marquee in Martin Place along with fellow Omega spokerperson Ian Thorpe.

The US model made her name in the early '90s as one of the original "supermodels" alongside Linda Evangelista, Claudia Schiffer and Naomi Campbell and has appeared on 600 magazine covers.

Today she is based in Malibu and married to nightclub owner Rande Gerber and has two children, Presley, 6 and Kaya 5.

She also still models and has a cosmetic line and is conscious of keeping in shape.

"I still exercise in the gym but I also hike, play tennis and take a dance class.

"I'm busier than ever. And on top of all this there is my main priority which is my family," she said.

She could still be on any magazine cover, walk for any designer, and be hotter than any teen or 20 something model of today.
