is there a future at Romeo Gigli without Romeo around?

ROMEO’S NEW FACE: Anna Ciummo will be the new women’s designer of the Romeo Gigli line, slated to bow for fall 2005 during Milan’s fashion week in February. Ciummo previously worked at Versace, Malo and Gentryportofino. When IT Holding sold the Romeo Gigli business, the namesake designer was ousted by the new owners of the label, Luxembourg-based Euroholding, and Gigli has turned to the courthouse to protect his namesake brand.

thanks lena...i miss romeo gigli's romantic style...he was one of my favourites and we did an exhibit of his collection when i was a student at FIT...the collection was called 'woman of the forest'...and the clothes were wonderful...i think it was 1992...

interesting - look forward to seeing the results of this.....thanks Lena

but.. you are welcome ..:flower:

'Versace, Malo and Gentryportofino' apart from her malo experience.. she may not be the best choice for Gigli to be honest

poor Romeo, losing the rights to his name.. how sad

yes...it's really terrible...i know he's trying to fight it legally...i wish him the best...

yes it is sad - i haven't heard of gentryportofino - assume its some Italian label... is it not very nice?

I’ve always liked Romeo as well and hope he’ll make a return, even if can’t use his own name.

Gentryportofino is based in Genoa and is primarily known for cashmere products. I believe their prices are generally a bit lower than Malo’s prices, but the two brands are actually quite similar in many ways. Until a year ago they were even owned by the same company, namely IT-Holding, but they have now sold the Gentryportofino brand.

They used to have a website at www.gentryportofino.it, but it’s not there anymore, which could be a bad sign.

I echo everyone's sentiments. Isn't it sad that you can't put YOUR OWN NAME on the clothes you design?! Sick!

Its all just money to them. They couldn't care less if it hurts the designer in the process.
