Claire Danes

Am I the only one that could see her playing a Tolkien elf? She just makes me think of a warrior female elf in those pics where she has her hair pulled back. Could see her running through the forests of Mirkwood in elf-gear takin' down some giant spider...

Okay my inner dork is shinning through now. :blush:

I love her in pink. It's really her color and I hate pink. ^_^

Just thought I'd share... my first magazine EVER was that of the Nov. '96 issue of Seventeen, with Claire on the front. My parents bought it for me during our vacation in Colorado, and I must have read it front and back five or so times. :)

What was that movie she did when she was younger, where she's supposed to be all virginal but ends up pregnant of a local policeman? I thought she looked stunning in that film.

That was just on not too long ago on Oxygen! I didn't watch the whole thing, but the parts I saw she's quite good in it. Not surprising. It looked weird though. Is it good? Reminded me too much of a Polish friend I had so I didn't watch the whole thing.

Her hair does look gorgeous in it. She's got great style. The more I see candids of her the more I love what she wears. Also think she's looks great in white and lavender. :flower:

I liked the movie. It's about a Polish American family living in Detroit. They have a rather long history of love related "accidents" resulting in marraige. Claire plays Hala, the rebellious only daughter of the family. The local church has just elected Hala to leads the virgins processional and crown the statue of the virigin in the local Festival of the Virgin.The girl chosen for the task is supposed to embody feminine chastity and virtue. But not long after she's chosen, Hala discovers that she's pregnant by her neighbor, Russel- oops! Her family deals with the situation by preparing for a wedding (as usual for them) but Russel doesn't want to get married. To complicate matters even further Hala decides to keep her pregnancy secret and crown the virgin anyway. And then there's a subplot about Hala parents and THEIR marriage...
The movie is sort of a slice of live about this family and their world. There's drama but I'd call it a comedy overall. Not everyone would like it, but I'd reccomend it to people who enjoy films like "Passionada" and "Moonstruck".

Here info about Claire's upcoming off-broadway performance:
Christina Olson is best known as the woman in the pink dress depicted in Andrew Wyeth's iconic painting, Christina's World. What is less known is that she suffered from a never-diagnosed muscular deterioration that left her arms weak and her lower body paralyzed. Fueled by both pride and denial, Christina rejected wheelchairs and found ways to move through the world relying only on her own strength. In this full length solo danced by Claire Danes (who first performed at P.S. 122 at the age of six), choreographer Tamar Rogoff uses her unique body-centric methodology to explore the ideas, spirit and physicality of a woman both rejected and revered. Christina Olson: American Model features music by Rachel's, video by Harvey Wang and Andrew Baker, costume by Liz Prince and lighting by David Ferri.

Here's an article from entertainment weekly about Claire's upcoming movie ShopGirl:

Older businessman meets younger woman. Younger woman meets slacker dude. Choices, choices. This is Shopgirl, a comedy-romance that's about as autumnal as comedy-romances get when they're set in Los Angeles. First it was a best-selling novella written by Steve Martin, and now it's a movie (shot back in 2003) starring Martin, alongside Claire Danes (as the titular counter clerk at Saks Fifth Avenue) and Jason Schwartzman (as Martin's scruffy romantic rival). Why the delay? ''I think [the film] underwent a few renovations, and it took [director] Anand [Tucker] quite a while to find the most compelling story within all the material we shot,'' attests Danes. ''I saw a version a year ago, and I saw another one about two months ago. It was much changed. Improved. Usually more time means a bigger mess. But that wasn't the case here.'' That probably comes as a relief to Martin, who also wrote the screenplay and was deeply involved throughout. ''He wasn't directing the movie, but he definitely helped the director,'' says Schwartzman. ''I don't want to say 'supervising,' because that makes him sound like a police officer. I just think it's nice to have the writer there. Especially when it's Steve Martin.''

''With him around, there was the chance we weren't totally maiming the thing,'' says Danes, who acknowledges the challenges in adapting the book. ''It's a really intimate portrait [of the female lead], but it's not told in the first person. It seems like it's from her perspective, but it really isn't. The question is, whose story is it?'' According to Danes, it's Martin's — in spirit, at least: ''I think it was really brave of him to expose parts of himself he didn't have to expose.'' Careful, Steve: That sort of thing can get you arrested at Saks.

Awwwww! I didn't know she had a puppy! Looks like the poor thing just had something done too, hence the elizabethan collar. :lol: Those things just crack me up.

I love that dress she's wearing. She looks lovely in it too and her hair is just gorgeous as always. :flower:

Fashion sense: A++ for Claire

Claire is definitely one of the Best Dressed Celebrities Alive. She's a big Zac Posen fan. He's a master, isn't he? They are great friends, I think. He must have loads of fun giving her things and dressing her up.
